Dr. Ushaanthy Ravindran, MD

I would not recommend Dr. Ravindran. Any time I would ask a question, she would avoid answering due to lack of knowledge. After giving me a diagnosis, she hurried out of the room and did not care about my well-being. She is extremely rude and I gained nothing out of seeing her. Will not be seeing her again and will look for a different endocrinologist.

As a type 1 diabetic I asked what felt like a genuinely curious question- what made her pursue endocrinology and her response- wow, you’re all over the place today Christine- made me feel ashamed and dumb. On top of that the entire appt consisted of her telling me I need to do better with my blood sugar. Any type 1 will tell you that is their goal but she came off judgmental and unkind. I was incredibly uncomfortable and will not be seeing her again.

I have seen Dr. Ravindran several times since my previous, and much loved, previous endocrinologist retired. At each appointment she took plenty of time to answer my questions and explain different treatment options. I never felt rushed. She is friendly and knowledgeable, as is her staff.

She's very thorough, compassionate, listens, and empathetic. She treatys the person not the first trigger word of any symptom. She goes the extra mile and actually cares for her patients a lot.

While it's true she overstated the time spent with me at my initial consultative appointment, I found her willing to explain how things work with respect to my out of whack parathyroid hormones. I'm happy that she asked me how I FELT about my eating habits, etc. She just finished her fellowship last year - give this new(er) doc a break! I'm willing to stick it out with her and see what happens with my health.

Perhaps this doctor only treats diabetes, which I do not have. For my issue, she was not only unhelpful, she was very dismissive and inappropriately implied that my issue may be primarily mental health related. After the appointment I reviewed the "after visit summary" and discovered she had recorded incorrect information about my health history. From my perspective, it seemed she had made up her mind and then heard only those pieces of information that fit her beliefs. I was very uncomfortable with her attitude. Further, I found she had stated she spent an hour of face to face time with me, when it had been 30 minutes at the very most. I was paying attention to the time because I had another appointment and errands to run after the visit. I don't know how she came up with her time. I cannot recommend this doctor. Disappointing and discomfitting.

WORST experience ever! The doctor is incompetent, lazy and useless. Avoid all together!

Doctor Ravindran was lazy, unprofessional and didn’t seem like she could provide good explanations for anything. She isn’t very detail oriented nor knowledgeable of certain conditions. I don’t suggest her! She also try’s to blame her lack of knowledge on her patients… lame!
