He is an expert in the field he has choosen. When the nurses found out I had lasiks surgery, all of them said Dr. Oostra was my guy, and that the math is tricky for patients like me. They were right - he has been great, and I am looking forward to getting my other eye taken care of to match my right eye, which one day after surgery, is 20/25 vision. He's amazing!

Outstanding Corneal Specialist
Dr. Oostra is an excellent ophthalmologist who provides personalized care to his patients. He managed the treatment of my Fuch's Corneal Dystrophy, two corneal transplants, and two cataract surgeries and communicated my special medical needs to another national hospital to ensure my safety. He referred me to follow-up care for scleral lenses with his associate and both eyes have now been corrected to near-perfect vision. He is easy to talk to and gives straightforward information that patients want and need. Dr. Oostra communicates research-based treatment options and best practices approaches while providing drug information in an easy-to-follow, personalized treatment plan. He never makes patients feel like he only wants to do surgery or that he doesn’t have time for his patients, even though he keeps a full patient load and makes his rounds to multiple locations. He is there to care for every patient to the best of his ability. I have been a patient at OSU Wexner Medical Center for

This hack looked at my eye at 3 months from a corneal abrasion. There was no record of dystrophy 2 months prior but it was found just a month after Oostra by a simple optometrist. Bottom line, Oostra should have found it and might have been able to prevent it from worsening, which it did and I am now dealing with the subsequent vision loss.
