Dr. Trusha Patel, DO

This rheumatologist tried to tell me, after I told her I had been diagnosed decades previously (in my 20s) with RA that, in fact, I had osteoarthritis!!! I had confirmatory tests performed at the time of diagnosis as well as significant pain so there was never any question about my diagnosis. Also, I have been a critical care RN for many years and am well-educated about my condition.. She failed to recognize or acknowledge common hand and finger deformities specific to RA, I explained what symptoms I had recently experienced to no avail. Still, she repeated that I had OA. She told me when I needed to come back and I proceeded to the closest exit. Dr. Falasca in Johnson City is now my doctor and he is the best rheumatologist I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend him and encourage others to avoid Dr. Patel.

I was sent to her out of town because the lack of Rhuemotologist in area. She walked in and said why are you here? She obviously didn't bother to read my file. I proceeded to tell her everything. I was in tears by the time I got done talking because it's been years ive been in distress with my health and doctors treatments has failed. I was expecting her to say something positive to console me that she would help. She said coldly, there's nothing she can do and said it was all in my head.
