Dr. Tracy Byerly, MD

I was interested in an Inspire, and their website directed me to an ENT Doctor in Kerrville. The appointment went ok, but when I learned Dr. Byerly did Inspire as well, and was located in Fredericksburg, I met with him. His initial interview was far superior, and he also did a procedure (camera up the nose an down the throat) which determines if my sleep apnea would be corrected by the Inspire. There is still a surgical procedure required prior to implantation that answers this same question, but Dr. Byerly's test showed that there was a 95% chance Inspire would help me. The Kerrville doctor did not discuss this test and I guess I would have paid all the money for a surgical procedure to determine the same thing. In another case, I was admitted to the hospital for a day with dizziness. They could not determine the cause in 24 hours, but ten minutes into an appointment with Dr. Byerly, I had the cause and a treatment plan. There are big differences in doctors. Choose wisely.

Dr Byerly does not explain procedures well. He doesn't discuss test results unless it's the C.A.T. scan he performd to convince you, you need sinus surgery. I was nervous about him using the camera on the long metal tube, I didn't know what it was, he came towards me quickly and told me, 'It's a camera, Chill!' When I expressed concern over my current busy schedule not being a good time for surgery, he said, 'It would be fine. It will just feel like a sinus infection.' When he said take acetaminophen for pain before and after the sinus surgery, I told him I was allergic to OTC pain meds, he said shrugging, 'Then don't take them.' The day of surgery he told my husband to have me take acetaminophen for pain, and my husband told him, She's allergic' Dr Byerly shrugged his shoulders to express he didn't care. He warned there would be pain similar to an infection but NEVER warned about the severe, intense burning pain that lasted for days. I felt dismissed and my pain minimzed.

Dr. Byerly was very nice. My surgeries were as painless as possible. His staff if wonderful. I really like his P.A. Ms Fryberger. She was kind, informative, gentle, a wonderful P.A.

Great surgeon and staff especially Fryburger.

Today I find that Byerly charged Medicare $483 for a 30-minute visit, and $239 for a three second tweezer operation in removing a hearing aid tip from my ear. No wonder the national debt is astronomic.

Great bed side manner. Wonderful doctor. Great at explaining diet and care. My daughter had surgery with dr. byerly. In postop room, she was calm but was given a drug that wiped her out. I was unable to explain anything to her and she was scared. The nurse commented on why he ordered it when she was so calm. I do not see why she was given a drug that practically made her incoherent when she was already being put under. It has effected her recovery. I wish they/he would have explained more.
