Dr. Kamal
Was directed to Dr, Kamal since there are not many diabetes docs in Tuscaloosa. I saw him for 2 years and he did help stabilize my diabetes. But when my insurance formulary changed he was unwilling to submit the formulary exceptions, limit exceptions and prior authorizations needed. he told me those things were 'too much work for him and his office staff to submit and follow up on." then he told me to find a pharmacy that sells insulin over the counter. he is now rejecting any refill the pharmacy submits.

Been going to him to monitor a tumor, didn’t do anything or suggest anything until surgery had to be scheduled immediately not because it was growing over the years. Didn’t even mention that it was growing. Just give vague advice like cutting carbs. His arrogance is astounding for the lack of actual care he gives.

I was treated like a dope addict because I needed thyroid medicine for my SYMPTOMS! I was told by Dr. Kamal, “ I cannot ethically give you thyroid medicine just because it will make you feel better.” Dr. kamal does not listen to his patients problems. He looks at lab values and nothing else. He is arrogant and feels that is the only thing there is to a patient visit. I AM a Person. The human body is more complicated than just one system and I think he should have investigated further where my symptoms stemmed from instead of dismissing me. I will never tell another person he exists in Tuscaloosa again. We should go to Birmingham or elsewhere for our care. Tuscaloosa has no speciality physicians that really care about their pets... just the money. So Sad!! It used to be a great healthcare town!! Makes me embarrassed to be a nurse here.

I was very dissatisfied with Dr Kamal. He had tons of information about me along with two different previous labs showing that I have a Thyroid problem. He didn’t listen to any of my concerns & even said that he would not treat some of the issues obviously associated with hypothyroidism & menopause. He said that he would not diagnose nor treat my thyroid issue without a third set of labs & it would be based solely on those labs. I left there crying feeling as if I wasted my money and still have no answers to problems I’ve suffered from for a year. I feel more hopeless. I think I’ll drive to Birmingham. I already have a neurologist there. Tuscaloosa has too many uncaring, arrogant doctors.

Dr Kamal was very thorough when looking at my thyroid. He listened to me and looked through all my doctors notes and questioned the reason for my symptoms to investigate even more.

I had a mass on my thyroid , so went to see him . I had fever, weight gain, joint pain and difficulty swallowing. He said cause my blood work was normal there was nothing he could do. He was so arrogant. I left there crying cause he said none of my symptoms related to the thyroid.

Do not waste your time or money. Does not listen to anything you have to say. Does not know what he is talking about, and will leave you wondering why you had to see him because he is useless in helping you find a solution to your problem. Also, I found he does not like it if you are an informed patient. He tries to push BigPharma rather than a more natural medication. Also, I found him very rude. Will not go again. Maybe the other endocrinologist is better. Will have to try.

He doesn't listen to your concerns. Or address symptoms. He's quick to judge you. He doesn't care about his patients. I would never recommend him to anyone. Very disappointed.

This guy is horrible. He doesn't even ask what your symptoms are, doesn't explain anything, and is actually pretty rude. Tuscaloosa needs another endocrinologist. Maybe if he had some competition he would treat his patients better. Don't waste your time or money on him. Drive to Birmingham instead

OK, except that he set another appointment to do a test which I feel could and should have been done during the initial visit. I see no reason for another appointment except to collect more money, another co-pay from me and another insurance payment, and an inconvenience for me.
