Toan Vu is great - staff is not.
Toan Vu is an excellent neurologist. He has a wonderful sense of humor and cares for his patient. I wish I could say the same for the women who work for him. They will not answer the phone and when you get on the phone with them they will treat you like you're bothering them. I recently got a referal from my PCP to come see Toan again, and was told my referal was not valid. They did not explain it was because it was waiting on insurance approval, I had to call my pcp to have them explain it. I told the woman i was on the phone with look: i called my insurance to change my pcp, saw the pcp, got the referral, and now you cant help me? and they responded 'it's not my problem.' I laughed and was like what did you say? It's not your problem? Why wont you help me? 'I dont care.' I have never been treated so poorly by a healthcare worker in my life with epilepsy.

Worst Experience
Within three minutes, said I needed to see a pain management doctor and that he couldn’t help me. Despite having the MRIs in front of him, three doctors referring me to see a neurologist, and medical history indicating, he stated he was a neurologist and could not help. I suspect the extent of my needs deterred him. Doctor?

Bad Experience!
Dr. Vu and his staff are very rude! Not friendly at all. They never answer their phones and you can leave several messages and they do not return phone calls. They are not very accommodating either. They are not about the patients care there at all! I do not recommend them!

Son had a seizure
Dr. Vu was very friendly, thorough and explained himself well. He was genuinely interested in my son’s wellbeing and was patient when conversing with him (my son has autism).

Dr. Vu is a wildly inappropriate, a poor communicator and thinks he is a psychiatrist, attributing my years of suffering to an undiagnosed psychiatric condition. He didn’t run one test or order any imaging. He didn’t even listen to my symptoms. He laughed at the video I showed him of unexplained, involuntary movements and also snickered when I told him about my burning nerve pain. He was suspicious and confused about the fact that I brought my female friend, questioning the nature of our relationship unnecessarily. When my husband called to complain about his mistreatment of me, the office manager explained that “he wears a mask and nobody can see him laughing”, (so my allegations are unproven and meritless). He also informed my husband that “there was a woman in the appointment with her; did you know that?” As though the whole office was talking about our “lesbian” relationship. I am livid. I didn’t tell him I was a three-time combat vet and that I have Gulf War Syndrome.

If I could give zero stars I would
I've never been more disrespected and talked down to by a doctor. I left Dr. Vu's office crying because of how rude he was to me for no reason during the entirety of our visit. About 10 minutes into the appt I immediately wanted to get out of there and just go to another neurologist. Unfortunately I can't see another doctor at that practice, but I'm never going back to that guy and would advise against seeing him to anyone else.

I was refereed to Dr. Vu because my walking gait was off and night pain in my leg. I appreciate that I was able to make an early morning appointment and further pleased with the helpful staff. Dr. Vu listened, asked questions to clarify what was happening, ran several tests in his office and sent me for a MRI. All accomplished quickly. He diagnosed my problem, addressed it with prescribed meds and communicated to me what to expect. He gave me confidence, he is professional and caring. Important to me, he has a great sense of humor and put me at ease. Thank you Dr. Vu.

Awful!!! I can't say this enough. I have tremors in hands; difficulty walking; difficult breathing and muscle and joint pain. I was a Neuro doctor because I possibly had Parkinson's. I asked how was it determined and Dr. Vu stated I should go to the county hospital (then corrected himself) University Hospital where they have plenty of doctors. Again, he corrected himself and said specialists. I said I thought he was a specialist! After asking, he finally agreed to order a Dat scan. This man is the most disgusting, disrespectful, and arrogant representation of a physician. It matters not the years of your education or your expertise in the field of YOUR choice. If you can't or won'delivery the level of healthcare that is expected by the license you carry in your pocket then try fishing or golf and leave medicine to doctor's that care about their patients. I know you think a lot of yourself; look in the mirror and you may see what your patients see. It's not pretty!!!

I went to him because I was having grand mall seizures. I had a black eye from going face first into my dresser. He ran the strobe rest and didn't see anything there so he said I'm faking it to get attention! Went to a different dr for second opinion. He figured out it was because of one if the medications I was on. Stop talking that med and haven't seized yet. Dr Vu doesn't look any further than the easy answers.

Dr. Vu is an excellent listener. He takes in all of the patient's concerns and politely and professionally addresses each one. He is honest and will tell you his professional opinion. You may not always agree, but with my experience with him he has always proven correct in his analysis, diagnosis, treatment recommendations and always a willingness to take "another look" if new information presents itself ... such as new symptoms or recent new test results. But, he does not drive a Volvo!!!

I was in Dr. Vu's office for maybe 10 minutes tops. He spent more time questioning me about my birth control than listening to my symptoms. He came across as very prejudged and claimed that my "confusion" and "lack of ability to concentrate" was an "attention problem, like daydreaming". He didn't explain anything to me and was very condescending. His nurse also clapped her hands after taking my vitals and exclaimed she was so excited I was her last patient.

Dr. Vu is a very knowledgeable Doctor that needs to work on his personal skills. While he ruled out Neurological issues, questions such as "what do you want" ( I want to feel normal why do you think I am seeing a doctor), or comments such as "no need to be macho" (Ain't trying to be macho, if your telling me I ain't got a problem and I know something ain't right, that's probably the wrong thing to say).
