Brilliant, kind, up-to-date on latest treatments
Dr. Collins is a wonderful neurologist who goes out of his way to make sure that both migraine and trigeminal neuralgia patients are treated with respect and kindness as well as the latest that the medical field has to offer them. He is wonderful at explaining things and will take all of the time necessary to make certain you understand your treatment options. He goes above and beyond, reaching out to other physicians, to ensure you obtain the best outcome possible. I am very glad he is part of my medical team

Disrespectful
I have seen Dr. Collins several times and have been communicated with him via my chart. It is my experience with each visit or my chart communications he can be very rude and condescending. It is unclear if it is intentional or not, but I’ve never had a pleasant visit or conversation with him regarding my health. Personally, I do not recommend Dr. Collins.

Disgusting and Rudeness
Oh My God, when I say the worst doctor I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Timothy Collins is rude, disrespectful, arrogant, and totally unprofessional. He acts like he’s in a hurry as you are giving your symptoms of how you are feeling and when you ask him a question, he acts as if it bothers him. He doesn’t touch you as if you stink or something. He has “experimented ” on my headaches for 15 years where he continuously “guess” what was going on with my headaches. I have some many pill bottles and injections prescribed by the “doctor of the centuries, Timothy Collins) that my cabinet was beginning to look like a pharmacy. My sister went with me to my “last” visit and he got agitated with her for asking questions. He went out of the room to order blood work for me and never returned. We walked up front and spoke with 2 other ladies(one a nurse supervisor and the other a receptionist) and neither was surprised of our complaints.

My husband has been seen in this.clinic for 4 years and it is a waste of time. We saw him once and on recently after complaining about a new PA did he respond. He is rude, cold, doesn't listen, doesn't want to help. Hasn't run any tests in over 3 years, just pushes medicine. We asked for help with my husband's Gulf War symptoms and our appt was cancelled and told to get meds from our primary doctor. I don't even know why he is still there as it isn't for his patients.

Positive Experience
His PA took lots of time getting the background info from my son- listened- ask questions - summarized for us. When Dr Collin’s came in he was polite, kind, friendly and did not rush us. He asked questions- gave suggestions- talked about what he saw and what he thought my son’s pain might be-ordered new meds to try- it was a great appointment- we felt heard. I joined my son as a second set of ears if needed and I was very impressed.

Consistently Disappointed
After several appointments with Dr. Collins and choosing each time to give him the benefit of doubt, I finally made the decision to seek help at another neurology clinic. He shows little to no concern about my daily migraines. He didn't listen to me, but rather over-talked me. He stuffed new medication at me without adequately answering my questions. I am unsure why Duke chooses to keep him with his rather poor reputation and low rating scores.

Doesn't respect patients time, symptoms or health
Dr. Collins has rescheduled my Duke Neurology appointment 3 times in the past year. When I arrived yesterday he was over an hour late and people were coughing in your waiting room. Check in said they can't ask people to wear masks or step out of obviously ill. I am immunocompromised and refuse to subject myself to germs due to a doctor being late and a clinic not following Duke protocol. Dr. Collins lack of respect for patients is undeniable. I have been rescheduled 3 times and just need my medication refilled. I asked for a transfer to Carolina Headache Institute if he can't see me and he referred me back to my primary care. I am appalled by the lack of care for patients. Whether he is the head neurologist or not, respect for patients and patient time should be paramount. I would like to file a complaint for the number of times he has rescheduled me and my inability to be seen in 2 years.

Stubborn and Condescending
I tried to explain my symptoms and history to him. He cut me off. He got mad when I refused an injectible migraine medication that showed post use high blood pressure indication in previously heathly patients and I have high blodd pressure. He literally scorned me like a child. I almost got up and left. His intern stood in the back with head down and arms crossed because he treated them terribly. He is abrupt and spends no time with you. I doubt he reads your chart. He is his own biggest fan. It's a huge God complex combined with bad medicine.

THIS MAN IS BEYOND RUDE. Id give him a -100 if i could. He interrupts you. He doesnt listen to you. I traveled several hours in hopes of getting some answers on NEUROLOGIC issues I've had for going on 4 years just to be told "he only deals with headaches" So what is a neurologist for? He asked why I even came.

Terrible experience. Stay far away from this so called doctor. I am surprised that such a person is employed by Duke. A truly useless and inept individual. Don't waste your time waiting for an appointment with him.

Honestly, he was the most cold and uncaring neurologist I've ever seen. Poor listening skills, made almost no eye contact, kept questioning what I was saying, and made it clear he's not interested in helping me. I'm confused because I know a couple people who really like him. Sadly, for me, he was one of those doctors who made me feel a lot worse about my neurological issues.

Rude, condescending, aloof, treated me horribly! I was so taken aback by his bedside manner that I almost left during the exam. I waited close to 6 months for my appt to leave with no better info than what I arrived with. I am a nurse who has spent many years working with hundreds of doctors and he is truly at the bottom of the list of who I would ever recommend to anyone!

Rude and condescending are the nicest things I can say about this guy. He lacks compassion. He showed up 25 minutes late for my appointment which was the first of the day. I wouldn’t send my enemy to him for treatment.

I am a long-term migraine sufferer, and periodically I need to have an adjustment in the type or dose of medication I take prophylactically. On my last appointment, he refused to even talk to me about a change and was totally indifferent to my concerns. The office staff, too, was very cold. I would literally rather die than see this man again.
