Very Understanding
Visited with Dr. Chen this morning regarding my nausea and overall gastric health. He was very thorough and made sure to work with me and my self-pay status to ensure that we weren't doing unnecessary medical services. He let me know that he was always available via myChart and worked with me to find some medication options to start with, besides jumping to things like expensive imagine and testing. Overall, he's a very understanding doctor with great bedside manner and is very helpful.

This review is to hopefully help others understand Dr. Chen's 5&1 star reviews On 10/19/21, it was determined I required an urgent colonoscopy + endoscopy. It was scheduled for 10/21/21 with Dr. Chen. As a person who does significant research on all-- buying running shoes or seeing new Dr's-- I was taken aback by only 2 stars, and diametrically opposed at that! Additionally, I was a fairly newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic. I want to state Dr. Chen & his team were patient, very skillful & creative, as I presented very high blood sugar, almost requiring procedure cancellation. That team all got a 5 star! Four business days after my procedure, I did have problems connecting with Dr. Chen's front office for my results. They were having phone connection issues I later learned. Upon connecting w/ Dr. Chen about my polyp results, he was calm and delightful to speak with; explained all allaying my fears. I hope if you are reading this, the front office communication issues are resolved.

This review is long overdue. I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Timothy Chen. My dad was having abdominal pain for several weeks and no one was able to figure out what was going on. He saw his primary care doctor who prescribed antibiotics and he even went to the ER for evaluation. Dr. Chen evaluated my dad, got the right scans and was able to get a prompt diagnosis. Thanks to Dr. Chen my dad was able to start chemotherapy quickly and this probably saved his life. Thank you Dr. Chen!!

I had a complication from the endoscopy that Chen performed on me. I’ve made multiple phone calls to his office requesting help, and 3 months later I haven’t heard back. He's also a terrible diagnostician. Endoscopies are invasive, expensive surgical procedures that require anesthesia so I requested that we start with comprehensive lab testing and do the endoscopy as a last resort. He insisted on the endoscopy. While awaiting results, I had my PCP do the lab testing I’d requested of Chen. They came back positive for a GI bacterial infection. With a non-invasive $30 test I got my diagnosis. My $1300 endoscopy came back clean. **Dr Chen got a lot of money from an unnecessary procedure that he performed on me. He refused to do the cheaper, less invasive testing first even when I asked him for it, and he pocketed a lot of money at the expense of my vulnerable position. His diagnostic aptitude was also completely off the mark, and he's completely ignoring me now.**
