Dr. Tiera Nell, MD

Writing this has taken me a few years, but I think my experience with Dr. Nell is worth sharing. My son was hospitalized with acute bronchiolitis at 6 weeks in July of 2021. He was moved from Children's Hospital North to the main campus as his condition required more advanced care. He spent about 1.5 days on a feeding tube in the PICU. He was born 3.5 weeks early and was tiny but gaining well. My highly respected pediatrician advised me with my 1st child that babies can drink cold milk (I exclusively pumped). We were doing the same with my son. Dr. Nell assessed him after his PICU stay. He wasn't weighed again before she saw him, even though he resumed regular feedings. Without any scientific backing, she determined that cold breast milk was the reason he was not gaining weight. Essentially, blaming my feeding for his weight, which she didn't measure and his notes clearly stated his weight wasn't an issue. It was extra trauma during a period of time that was already terrifying.

My daughter was in the hospital. I had to continue to request for her to see my child and to discuss her prognosis. When discharged, my daughter had to go home with several medications. Dr. Nell did not send the orders. I had to spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to get the medications ordered.
