Very personable and attentive.
Dr. Spain was a great. He listened and was able to connect easily with my teenage son. He made some great recommendations to treat my son's migraines. The office was easy to work with regarding scheduling an appointment. We did have a referral, so that was probably helpful compared to other reviews. The office and staff were top notch. I felt very good about the visit and the plan provide to deal with the pain.

went for chronic pain. Doc changed my child's antidepressant. we called to get answers to side effects and the nurse told us we gave the incorrect dose. *She said what what was on the prescribed on the bottle was wrong* Then she called back hours later and said it was the correct dose but the doctor doesn't make phone calls so I could get any explanation. The nurse said we can call their supervisors with complaints. We received no help what so ever.

I live in Honduras and was very interested to have an appointment with Dr Spain and his medical experience to help my 13 year old girl who has been in pain for 1 year. I decided to travel to Dallas and even before the trip started trying to make an appointment. The assistant never took my calls and e mails seriously, my child received medical services but in Houston where the process to get the appointment was great. So sorry couldn’t meet Dr Spain and I suggest improve customer service.

It took us four months to get an initial appointment after receiving CP reference. He will not speak to a patient after first visit. “It’s policy” Will not give ANY narcotics... EVER. Made my child feel guilty and horrible about taking one pill after her spine surgery. Does not follow up on paperwork for Medicaid regarding physical therapy. Forget about talking to him on the phone. Nurses and staff have a policy of not allowing it. And this is how he treats children. I tried multiple appointments before giving this much-needed review to warn other parents.

Dr. Spain is great with kids. He takes time to talk to them and explain things in a way they can understand. We were at our wits end with our daughter's headaches and he offered several options explaining the pros and cons of each. I would definitely recommend Dr. Spain.

I was a little apprehensive about using Dr. Spain after reading the other reviews on this site. However, I decided to give him try because my daughter's orthopedic referred us to Dr Spain specifically. I assumed there had to be a reason for that. I am very glad that I made that decision. He was very compassionate, listened to our questions and answered all of them fully. He was not condesending at all and we found him to be quite personable. I definitely recommend Dr. Spain and his staff!

Like other reviews listed here...the dr didn't take my child's pain seriously and thought an antidepressant and counseling was all that's needed. My child has a chronic, life threatening conditiom. Very rude and condensending. Don't waste your time here.

Would give less than 1 star if possible. Dr. Spain completely denigrated my honor student daughter's chronic pain (2 years and counting, following scoliosis surgery) as nothing but an attempt to skip school. His belief that she has psychosocial issues and not debilitating pain, plus his direction to just get on with life, actually made the problems worse. We're now at the Mayo Clinic, participating in their three-week pain rehab program. Thank goodness for Mayo!

Without a physical exam or inquiry as to symptoms, he assumed my straight-A, Honor-Roll, all-5s-on-AP-tests, skipped-a-grade, reads-classical-literature-for-fun, selected-as one-of-four-seniors "to watch" by-community, niece was exaggerating about her pain (from a genetic disorder) to get out of school. Ironically, she was there for pain control to get back to school. Then he referred to her mom as "one of those emotional mothers" that enabled truancy. My niece went home sobbing. "Do no harm?"

Dr. Spain minimized my child's symptoms and mocked him, basically saying he was making most of his condition up. He attitude was very demeaning to both of us. I have never had a doctor visit that was so strange and uncomfortable.
