I saw Dr.Thomas Joseph Malbrough on 3/14/25 for debilitating pain in my neck and shoulder. I was calm, composed respectful yet Dr. Malbrough treated me with disrespect and emotionally among many personal attacks he said I was “being very dramatic”; “I didnt go to medical school I studied chemistry,” “he’s the doctor not me,” despite my efforts to redirect discussion to my suffering and I don’t claim to know medicine just know I can’t continue to live like this I need help and relief urgently. I said I respect & accept his professional perspective and will seek 2nd opinion at BJC where my PCP works. He scoffs says, “well you better do that today because they’re scheduling 2-3 months out.” I said thanks but I’ve heard enough of his advice and thanked him. I’d pleaded with Dr. Malbrough for more immediate relief than PT offers because my pain been severe, unbearable. I can’t function, exercise, do chores, walk my dogs and asked could he please consider submit a PA request for an MRI since he claimed that’s prerequisite for immediate treatments like cortisone injection, etc. to relieve my pain. I was recording this visit like I do all important medical and business appointments so I’ve proof this is exactly what happened and I was calm, monotone, composed, respectful not emotional or dramatic at all but rather just pleading for more aggressive immediate treatment and relief because my pain has become unbearable and debilitating all I can do is lay on the couch or bed.

Worse than before
On Jan. 8. 2024 I was given a cortisone injection in my sacroiliac joint. For the next two-three days I could barely walk. I have been crippled since that day and have been in pain. When I called about this, shortly after the injection, the nurse told me it could take a couple weeks for me to feel better. They gave me a prescription for an oral prednisone med. I have never felt better, and certainly didn’t expect to feel worse. I was given no warning that this could happen. As a result, my husband had to wheel me around on a cruise ship for our week’s cruise in mid-January. I now have to use a cane and see a physical therapist. This has been a gigantic disappointment. I am NOT happy.

Dr. Malbrough is very thorough and listens to the patient. He answers questions in detail. I am a returning patient because of my positive past interactions and outcomes. I highly recommend him. His office staff, including his nurse, Sherry, are also great.

Best results for pain mgmt
I have been in pain mgmt for over 10 years. Under Dr. Marlbrough's care, my pain has decreased and fluctuates less. He is the best pain doctor I have had. Real solutions... not just more procedures.

Nurse asked about my pain and I indicated what it was at the end of the day, at that she came me a look of contempt and asked "like being mauled by a tiger". What kind of question is that? Does she know what being mauled by a tiger feels like? Dr. Malbrough was insensitive, did not bother to look at my paperwork, but diagnosed my condition without looking at MRI's or health record. How you make an accurate diagnosis without all the necessary information, such as MRI, health records, paperwork I filled out?

He is very nice and doesn’t rush, but when my old doc retired he took over with my care but seems the epidural shots were not helping anymore because he was using a different medication that supposedly works just as well. He doesn’t seem to want to use the old same medication that my retired doctor used even though I’ve told him it doesn’t help me!!??

Started seeing Dr Malbrough when my doctor in the same Signature Orthopedics group retired. I’ve been coming to this office since an injury 20 yrs ago. Dr Malbrough is punctual, thoroughly reviewed all of my past records, and provided info on various, newer treatment options. Great location, ample parking and smiling, friendly staff too.
