Don’t go to this doctor
I went twice and had all the test done. They indicated Lupus! Twice I went and they said even with a positive ANA , I don’t have Lupus. I also had vasculitis and diagnosed and treated by two doctors. He said you never had vasculitis. If I go out in the sun I get another episode and really sick. Even urine indicated Lupus. He said see infectious disease doctor. I went and that doctor said you have Lupus and need see Rheumatologist. Because I responded to treatment for vasculitis it was vasculitis. Now I’m still having episodes and have find a new doctor. This doctor is a quack and doesn’t care.

Disgruntled and Disappointed – Oct 18, 2024

After 3 years, he never knew my name
I was a patient of Dr. Lafferty, every 3 months for 3 years. He would always come into the exam room in a rush, never knew my name and always thought I was there to have arthritis treated. I did not have arthritis, I had lupus. He never treated me appropriately. One day I showed up for my appt. And there was a paper taped to the door stating the office was permanently closed. All my medical records and history just disappeared, along with Dr. Lafferty. I would NEVER recommend him, he has some sort of problems and is a lousy dr.

Quack, quack!
Dr. Lafferty misdiagnosed me with scleroderma, a deadly autoimmune disease! A Mayo Clinic rheumatologist diagnosed me with NO autoimmune disease. Plus, Dr. Lafferty told me my treatment would come from my main doctor, and when I went back to Dr. Lafferty when my main doctor said treatment would come from Dr. Lafferty, Dr. Lafferty scuffed me off and said that he would no longer see me and that if I went back, I would only be able to see his PA!! But thank God it turned out that way, as I did NOT have Scleroderma as determined by Mayo Clinic and I did not need any treatment at all. Why waste your time like I did with a doctor that does not care and is only after Medicare money!! Find a different rheumatologist.

Always on time
Every time I have had an appointment, I do not wait longer than 10 minutes. This is remarkable, considering most doctors have a 20 or 30 minute wait. He is a good educator, thorough, and compassionate. Adapting to a new doctor when moving from another state is challenging. He makes it easy.

A rare find!
My experience as a new patient with Dr Lafferty in the Ocala office was great! He displayed a kind, polite and compassionate manner. He listened and paid attention to details specific to me and was genuine in wanting to provide personalized care that best fit my needs. My experience with the office staff on the phone and in person was very good as well. They were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Dr Lafferty and his office staff.

This is one busy practice that makes us feel like the most important people on earth. They are always on time, courteous and efficient. Every aspect of this office treated me caring and concern. The appointment for return visit was made and waiting for me as I walked out and the doctor listens as if he had no other patients to worry about, just me! THANK YOU DR. LAFFERTY!

Dr Lafferty obviously does no know a lot about autoimmune disorders. He recommended 4 different medications to me, none of which would help my condition. He also told me that he thought my labs may be a fluke and wanted to re-do them (he ordered a lot of tests but not the one that he said he did not believe!) He did not seem to care about my concerns, did not like that I have tattoos and treated me like it was a problem for him personally and did not seem to have any clue about what was happening to me or how to help me. I felt that he wasted my time and money. Overall, I would say he may only be helpful if you are dealing with an arthritis issue, but as I am not being treated for this, I really do not know this to be true.

My wife was referred to Dr Lafferty when my provider retired. She has complex issues and was stable working with her previous provider. Dr. Lafferty was abrupt, confrontational and disbelieving. He referred her to numerous specialists and decided he did not want to treat her referring her back to her Internist.

Had my new patient appointment with Dr. Lafferty and it was more thorough than exams from other docs. Dr. Lafferty gave me insight into managing my medicine with ideas that had not occurred to me. He was sincerely kind and helpful. I left feeling satisfied that I had a good health care advocate in my court.

Relocated to Florida and was concerned I wouldn’t be able to find a new, quality rheumatologist. I needn’t have been worried. Dr. Lafferty exceeded all expectations! He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and thorough, and he spent the time needed to understand my condition and determine appropriate treatment. I am fortunate to have found him.

Dr. Lafferty is personable and professional. He asks questions and actually listens to your answers. He explains what he thinks the best course of care would be and gives you options. It's your choice. He never makes you feel like he's rushing to get to the next patient.... you are his only concern while he is with you. All that being said, his nurse, Terri is phenomenal as well. Makes you feel comfortable from the beginning. And his whole staff is awesome! I feel welcome and cared for! Thanks.

Well I have been a patient for a long time and I am still on the fence with this doc. As a rheumatologist he is the most important doctor in my disease treatment and yet I struggle with if I should find another. Everyone has bad days and so I try to understand that when he is in a bad mood but he is now always in a bad mood and I don’t like that being taken out on me. I have heard him in the hallways complaining to his nurse about other patients and it is quite embarrassing.
