excellent knowledge of diabetes / diabetics
Open to patient's questions, very intuitive, best most knowledgeable endourologist in my 32 years of diabetes. After moving into the area, it took 2 years to be "assigned" to him thru my insurance. Best experience, he gave me confidence thru' his recommendations to change my glucose numbers, dropped cholesterol numbers, & lost 40 pounds as a result. Even thou' I didn't expect the weight loss, it was a bonus to the care he gave.

Just walked out of a scheduled visit. Doctor was going to be late by at least an hour from my appointment time. This seems to be the normal for this doctor! Every appointment I've had with him he has run at least an hour late.

Initial visit with my wife was 2 hours! Very comprehensive and thorough and compassionate Doctor. He understands Diabetes, from a Diabetic person's view. Explains things in simple terms to patients. A true detective and scientist of Endocrinology, and much more. He is a Great Doctor and person!

Thia office is absolutely ridiculous. Over and hour plus wait for a scheduled appointment but if you don't wait at least an hour they will charge you $100. Avoid this office unless you have hours of time to waste waiting.

Consider yourself lucky if you have the opportunity to be seen by Kenecht. He is the one and only doctor I have met there to fight for the patient. He's also a type 1 diabetic so he has a understanding no other endocrinologist has. I've found seeing other endocrinologist are pointless it's an appointment where they learn from me. Once Knecht moved away from utah I started seeing a general practitioner who simply tests my blood and writes me my scripts.

Dr. Knecht is extremely knowledgeable in many areas, not just endocrinology. He helped us with several related issues with patience and competence.

The office staff is unprofessional and incompetent. 90% of my appointments were rescheduled because authorization was never requested. One appointment was scheduled on a Sunday (closed). Today, I arrived EARLY at 1:16 for a 1:30 appointment to find the office closed. I took a seat in the hallway and waited. I checked the door at 1:32 and signed in at 1:33. Took a seat and waited 8 minutes before called to the front desk and told I would not be seen because I was late and that I would be charged!

Dr. Knecht seemed knowledgeable and pleasant when I saw him however: he charges extra $ to justify his prescription to the insurance company and when I tried to cancel an appointment for tomorrow when they called me today, it was "too late, there will be a $100 charge for missing it". Kind of seems like they waited until there was less than 24 hours left, then made the call. Not a huge fan of their front office demeanor.

I saw Thomas Knecht (Endocrinologist) this week and had a great experience. He was not only knowledgeable but very patient and a great listener. He truly cares about his patients and it shows; I highly recommend him. His staff is as friendly and patient as him. THUMBS UP!

Dr. Knecht diagnosed my POT Syndrome when many other local physicians/specialists told me I was healthy despite extreme symptoms of fatigue, faintness, tachycardia, etc. He is so personable, informative and knowledgeable--really an outstanding endocrinologist.

Unfortunately I had have bad experience with his office staff. I'm an older person and it's hard for me as an elderly to understand certain things. His office staff is really rude and has made me feel really sad because i see that they don't have any patient with their clients. I thought that the office staff is there to help you but sadly they don't. Unfortunately there are no other doctors that specializes in Endocrinology in Santa Maria to switch.
