Dr. Thomas Fromuth, MD

My experience with Dr. Fromuth during and following an unplanned C section was horrible. He was rude, unempathetic and completely unprofessional. It made an already traumatic experience that much worse. He made multiple comments during my one month follow up visit that left my husband and I speechless. I was in tears by the end of the appointment. He spoke to us as if we were uneducated, despite the fact that we both hold advanced degrees. He commented on my weight, referring to me as a “person of size” when I asked about the possibility of a repeat c section for subsequent pregnancies. He insisted that he knew best when it came to birth control decisions rather than answering my questions about possible IUD complications. I have since switched to another practice for a second pregnancy because of how poorly we were treated. I have heard similar stories about him from friends and colleagues. I would advise avoiding this man at all costs.

Horrible experience! As a fellow provider I was shocked at how rude and dismissive he was during my visit. His spoke to me as like I was uneducated and was not willing to listen. When testing was mentioned that could potentially cause issues with insurance in the future he blew those concerns off also. I highly recommend not seeing this provider. He has clearly lost sight of what his jobs actually and should just retire.

He made an unwarranted, rude comment when I was asking questions about the UPMC induction procedures. He mentioned Cytotec (a medical option I had previously declined when having both of my miscarriages due to possible side effects). I then calmly mentioned how I was not really comfortable with the Cytotec, to which he retorted "Well, welcome to motherhood! Where you often have to do what you don't prefer!" I started crying in the office (embarrassing) and had to stand up to offer myself a tissue. It was a disappointing visit, as I expect more understanding from providers. My husband was incredibly shocked & offended at his comment on my instinctual ability to be a mother. Fromuth is strictly a "facts" doctor, which is fine, but I prefer providers who ALSO show decency.

Dr, Fromoth performed my emergency hysterectomy when I wasn't even a patient there about 5 years ago. My regular Dr was on vacation. He won me over then. Recently I went in for my annual and mentioned the hot flashes. He eased my mind about starting Evamist. He hit another home run. Within days I had ZERO heat flashes, more energy and focus, happy mood and sleeping all night. I have my life back. He is a really good Dr. with a great attention to detail. Highly recommend!
