Disappointed Me
Dr. Berbos took good care of me for several years. This last year when I was having a vision test at his office, my left eye was blurry. It seemed to concern him so he decided to recheck my eye in several weeks [?] I went to an eye glass place and tried on many readers to no avail. I had asked Dr. Berbos if my cataracts were ok and he said yes. The man at the eye glass place thought we should try prescription glasses so we got my prescription to order those. He told me I had a rare astigmatism, both eyes being completely different. Nevertheless the glasses did not work at all for me. At my recheck w/ Dr. Berbos, he said my eye "was doing better" so he would check it again in August. Getting increasingly worried & anxious, I got a second opinion. At the new doctor's I found out that my left eye was almost blind and I needed cataract surgery in both eyes. Dr. Berbos has a big following, but he caused me inconvenience & $$$$. I dislike doing this but feel a responsibility to.

Recently, I had an appointment with Mountain View’s optometrist, Dr. Newell and was taken aback when I walked in (wearing a mask) and almost no one, including the front desk staff, was wearing a mask. I considered leaving, but decided that the evaluation for a possible detached retina (which can lead to blindness) took precedence. The staff and later, the office manager became annoyed and defensive when I asked about the lack of masks. They tried to justify the lack of masks by (1) pointing to a Plexiglas panel at the front desk even though that panel was off to the side and not between the staff and patients, and (2) saying that they ask screening questions and take temperatures frequently even though it is well-known that coronavirus carriers can be asymptomatic. I asked to speak with Dr. Berbos about this, but he did not return my call. I know that the risk of infection is still relatively low in MT, but the numbers are rapidly rising. Given what we know about the protectiv

I see Dr. Berbos for macular degeneration. I had seen a different doctor before him and had a bad experience. I was very nervous my first visit, but he and his staff are so wonderful and accommodating that I got over my anxiousness quickly. I have been seeing him for several years and I am always well taken care of. He is an excellent doctor and is very good about keeping up with current treatments and technology.

Dr Hasquet referred me to Dr Borbos in Helena, After the Gt Fls doc closed his practice. Great. I saw him twice and he was not able to help me and he would refer me to Rocky Mountain Eye Clnic in Missoula. Here is my problem. No referral! I finally after not getting a call from them, I called RMC myself, being told they could not help me without a referral. Called back locally to Dr B. Oh yes they did call hum. Would have him call again! Waited awhile. Tried again. No referral yet I was

Not happy with this doctor. I came in with a written list of issues--pain in my eyes, concern about retinal thinning, blurry vision (cataracts). The tests--all computerized--were efficient and impersonal. I spent about 20 minutes with other providers (assistants?); about 20 minutes waiting for my pupils to dilate; about 10 minutes waiting in a room for the doctor; and about 4 minutes with the doctor. After hearing my concerns, he basically said, "nothing can be done; see you next year."

Had a frightening occurrence overnight with sudden onset of floaters in one eye. Because of the potential seriousness of what had happened, the staff juggled the doctor's already tight schedule to accommodate seeing me within hours of my initial call. Once seen, while the worst case scenario had not yet occurred, it was still possible to occur. Therefore Dr Berbos gave me all of his work and personal contact phone numbers "just in case" for the few weeks ahead. Cannot say enough good about the l
