Dr Guna is the best!
My son who is now 15 has been a patient of Dr. Gunas since he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age 3. We trust him emphatically, and he has given us the best advice and healthcare we could wish for, and our son is thriving. if you’re looking for somebody with extensive knowledge, a bedside manner, and the ability to hear the patient side look no further!

Met our expectations with kindness
Our PCP sent us to Dr. Guna for our 14 year old daughter's chronic diarrhea & possible blood in her stools. I appreciate that he spoke directly to her and explained things is a way she could understand without being patronizing. I questioned whether both endoscopy & colonoscopy were necessary. He walked me through her symptoms and his reasoning for both diagnostics. I was surprised Dr. Guna called me on a Sunday with her biopsy reports, "I know parents worry so I wanted to get them to you as soon as possible." Thank you for this care!

We’ve had nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Gunasekaran. He has always answered any questions me or my son has had and helped treat my sons disease after months of going to his pediatrician with no help. The staff is very friendly and always follows up with us to make upcoming appointments and test results.

As I read these reviews,I can hardly understand those that are negative. My daughter has been with Dr. Guna from eight years old to twenty. He had nothing but expert advise and good intentions for her.He was so concerned with her severe Crohn’s Disease and associated psychological issues, he would visit her on his own free will while she was being treated for another condition at the children’s hospital. He watched over her like a father would! He was extremely polite with everyone in my family and we entrusted him with our most valuable human on earth-our sweet daughter. We NEVER had to wait for years of appointments with him and found his expertise to be unparalleled. And his office staff was outstanding. He has practiced all over the world and really knows his field. Our philosophy has always been, treat one with respect and goodness and the return will come back to you twofold. He’s a keeper in my book and we owe him so much for leading our daughter to good health. We love you Dr. Guna!

My fourteen year old daughter had sudden, acute pain that landed her in the emergency room and unable to function day to day. There is a family history of Crohn's Disease. Upon on our first visit, Dr. Guna performed a rectal exam with little to no warning and never explained it to my daughter prior to the shocking test. He predicted it was "stress because most girls her age are stressed." A couple of months later, when symptoms had not improved, he performed an endoscopy and a colonoscopy and told my daughter that everything is normal and it is all stress. He refused to listen that she could not eat, the acid reflux was getting worse day by day and it was not stress. We begged for the genetic Crohn's test and he refused. We refused to go back. Six months later, her symptoms are still bad. Our amazing pediatrician has determined that she has a bile reflux problem and has found a new gastro doctor who is willing to look at the data and work to solve the real problem.

Horrible experience recently with this doctor. I made an appointment for my son, showed up at the location given to me (Vernon Hills) and found that the location was boarded up....no sign, no tenants, no cars etc. I called to validate the mix up and they wouldn't tell me anything other than asking me to reschedule. Horrible customer experience and I will never reach out to this doctor or organization again.

Dr Guna helped diagnose my daughter after months of seeking help elsewhere. He sought out other experts in the field to help get us an answer, and finally treatment. We are so thankful to have found Dr. Guna.

I have never felt like I had to write a review before until now. We had a simply horrible experience with this doctor. After being 45 minutes late with no excuse as to why he spent 7 minutes with my child which included a few questions which he felt eliminated everything serious to a rectal exam which was completely mortifying and unwarranted. He then prescripted a drug that was completely inappropriate at the time( verified with another doctor) to her symptoms. NEVER go back again!

Guna walked into the room without barley speaking a word. he told my daughter, who he hadn't barely spoken to, made eye-contact with or even tried to make her comfortable, to pull down her pants, both underwear and her shorts, and to show him her butt as he would be performing a rectal exam. Please note, there was never a nurse in the room, or someone to comfort here. Instantly my daughter became hysterical. There is not enough room to tell me story here. But do not bring another child to him.

We have been nothing but pleased in our experiences with Dr. Guna. He listens to our concerns about our daughter's Crohn's disease, and we feel confident that we are getting the best care in Chicago. Office staff is helpful and responds quickly. We rarely have a wait in the office.

It seems that doctor Guna is first and only choice is Miralax to treat chronic pediatric constipation despite new (2015) data that Miralax should not be used long term not only pediatric but in adults as well because of toxicity FDA has opened a new research due to increasing complaints of side effects but he doesn't want to listen (he did not even know about it)and just give alternatives .he is very rigid and shows his temper, sometimes rude. it is Miralax or go find other doctor policy
