Doctor Pressured me to have a C-Section
I had a long labor by any measure. I stayed home for 48 hours while having contractions. Then, I went to the hospital for an inducement, but there was no room in labor/delivery so I decided on a therapeutic rest treatment instead. After 18 hours of induced labor, I developed an infection and after a slow but steady progress, had dilated to 9.5 cm. Dr. Hotchkiss insisted that my dilation was not sufficient to start pushing. She said my infection was a risk factor for needing a C-section. She kept giving me arbitrary deadlines to become fully dilated or else be forced to undergo the surgery. What she didn't tell me is that doctors are compensated more for performing C-sections than for presiding over vaginal deliveries. Also, she was about to end her shift. Perhaps, she wouldn't have been paid at all if we were allowed more time to deliver under the next doctor's watch. Thus, I don't think Dr. Hotchkiss had our best interest at heart when she pressured us to undergo the C-section.

I went to Dr Hotchkiss for an OBGYN consult before stopping the pill. After an awkward in person visit due to Dr Hotchkiss’s terrible bedside manner, I was unable to get in touch with her again when my body went haywire after stopping the pill. I was incredibly ill and was still only “allowed” to speak to Dr. Hotchkiss’s nurse on the phone, who then acted as an intermediary relaying messages between us. When I finally insisted on needing to speak to the Dr personally, I was given an appointment 6 weeks in the future and told that I was being “difficult.” I was NEVER ABLE to speak to the doctor again after our initial visit. I switched to another practice at another hospital and was able to be seen immediately and given a large panel of blood tests ASAP given to the severity of my symptoms. A horrible and unacceptable experience that wasted 4 months of my life.

My pcp sent me to Dr. Hotchkiss because I have a history of uterine polyps and recurring fibroids. She seemed confused as to why I was there and told me to come back when I wanted to get pregnant. It was a very bizarre experience.

Dr. Hotchkiss was recommended to me through my PCP. I see her annually and when complications arise. In my experience, she has always been attentive, reasonable, considerate, & extremely competent in making informed decisions. Always very helpful in guiding me in the right direction, whether what tests to run, what doctor to see, or just simply making good life choices.

I will never return to this practice. They never have appointments and poorly managed my care. When I called for a life-threatening emergency for my baby, the on call doctor was asleep, speaking with slurred speech, and gave me poor medical advice that led to a disasterous outcome. In debriefing with me, Dr Hotchkiss made excuses, saying doctors have a hard job and it's natural that they get tired. Well, that doesn't help me now.

It was horrible. The meds she gave me made my condition worse. I landed in the ER because of her. There I found out that a test result she said was fine wasn't. The ER doctor reviewed it with me and showed me that it said in writing there needed to be a follow up exam to look more closely. Dr. Hotchkiss ignored that note. I saw a new doctor who found multiple polyps & removed them. Dr, Hotchkiss should not be working with pregnant women. She's too careless to have 2 lives in her hands like that.
