The worst appointment with a physician ever!
For a person who is never sick, takes no meds, and only sees the doctor for annual check ups, I was treated like I was a hypochondriac! I waited over three months for my appointment only to not have any blood work or testing done prior. (I had taken my own health dilemma seriously because I had to wait so long and total changed my diet and eliminated all inflammatory, mostly carbs foods. I did feel better but not even close to 100%.) The blood work she received from my PCP was incomplete with missing diagnostic testing. She acted like it was all related to arthritis in my shoulder (I did have a shoulder injury recently before the appointment, but that was not my complaint for the appointment) and gave me a script for physical therapy only. She didn’t listen to any of my symptoms relating to many body systems feeling off and in pain and told me the local tests “are never accurate.” She did order a $1,000 test not covered by ins. with + results that “didn’t mean anything.” The end!!!
What went well
  • Staff friendliness
What could be improved
  • I didn't feel respected
  • Difficult to schedule appointment
  • Didn't listen or answer questions
  • Didn't explain conditions well
  • Appointment was rushed
  • Didn't trust the provider's decisions
  • Long wait times

I saw Dr. Doan once and that was enough. During the pandemic, she had to room her own patients which I'm sure irritated her. Since I had never met her and she was in mask, shield, gown and gloves, I had no idea who she was. And she never introduced herself. Wrongly I assumed she was a nurse or medical assistant. As she continued to talk while typing I figured out that she was the doctor. She said to keep taking prednisone and come back in 3 months. That was it.

Although she couldn't be kind enough, simply put....she sucks. She was quick to diagnose me to more quickly to put me on Prednisone. After given a cortisone shot - a week later in severe pain, she is still telling me to wait for the shot to kick in. Days later, still complaining of pain - she ups my dosage of prednisone. Never calling to explain, leaving me to make judgment call once it was done. My followup appt. is in a week or two - she would need to pay me to see her again.

I waited three months for an appointment. No x-rays, no blood tests, just a quick glance over and an absurd diagnosis of fibromyalgia. I have most of the symptoms of psoriatic arthritis, but didn't have one symptom that some people just don't get, or only have during a flare, so she completely disregarded it. I am fairly certain that if I did have fibromyalgia, it would take a hell of a lot longer than 20 minutes to make that diagnosis.
