Dr. Sylvia Cartwright, MD

My journey with Dr. Cartwright has been transformative. Together, she has helped mw navigate my issues. Her communication was clear and empathetic, making me feel safe and understood. We set achievable goals, and I’ve seen a lot of progress. I can confidently say that my well-being has improved thanks to her guidance. It’s a double bonus to have Dr. Cartwright as a therapist. She also does my medicine management. It’s nice to have one doctor who can do both.

I have been working with Dr Cartwright for about 2 years now. As a new first time Mom, I was struggling with PPA and PPD and other various issues. I am grateful I found her when I did. I always feel seen and heard in our sessions. It's helpful receiving medication management and talk therapy all in one place. She is an excellent provider who cares about her patients and really listens. I really love the work we do together and always look forward to our sessions.

Dr. Cartwright really cares about how you would prefer to use your time with her. Great at guiding you in becoming more understanding and compassionate with yourself. She also looks at all aspects of mental health and the correct way to treat it. Starting from medicine, but also will discusses traditional alternative medicines as well. Helpful with ADHD and anxiety.

As someone who has always been wary of the pharm industry and prescription drugs, Dr. Cartwright listened to my concerns and helped me find medication that really fit my life and needs. I work in a high stress environment as a health care provider myself, and found that our sessions really transformed the way I get through my work day for the best. She is very knowledgable, stays up to date with current practices/research, and will do the work to find the answers to your questions. She isn't always on time, but she has never rushed me to wrap things up at the end if I am expressing thoughts or concerns. I would 100% recommend her for anyone who is seeking assistance with medication management.

I was excited to connect with a doctor who could handle therapy and medication management all in one. The fact that she is exceptional at both makes this even better. I've been seeing Dr. Cartwright weekly for nearly a year and we've progressed through so many of my very difficult goals. She has helped and is helping me change my life. One of the best things about working with her is that she NEVER judges me. She's someone I really trust and that matters a ton.

Dr. Cartwright is an exceptional psychiatrist, especially for ADHD. Her compassionate approach, understanding, and care in considering optimal treatment strategies made a remarkable difference for me. I highly recommend her.

Typically when you have a paid appointment with a professional, the bare minimum expectation is that the professional will be punctual. At least once. She no-call no-showed to our first appointment, her reasoning being that the name I made the appointment with was not the same as my insurance. I am trans, and informed her this would be the case while scheduling our consultation. It was also denoted in my documentation. I had to call her, remind her of our appointment, and was still billed the full price. During sessions, she was chronically invalidating, cynical, and tardy. That being said, Dr. Cartwright is excellent at prescribing medications. I've spent years trying to find a psychiatrist that would help me find the correct meds and dosing for me. Dr. Cartwright is knowledgeable and experienced, and made it a point to make sure I fully understood why I am taking it, potential side effects, and what it is being used for so that I can advocate for myself to any future providers.

Dr. Cartwright accused me of fraud for submitting my VA disability claim. She immediately villainized me without talking about this in a professional manner. If her or I ever misunderstood anything about what was happening I would've appreciated a more civil approach. I already have enough trauma. I would not recommend if this is your last plead for help.

Well educated, has kept up with her continuing education. It is impossible to find a good psychiatrist, but she is definitely one of the good ones.
