Dr. Sylvia Batong, MD

I get how you might not “get” her but she’s been very professional for last 5-6 years I’ve seen her. She is direct and, yes, gives you straightforward, common sense answers. I don’t need a best friend, just a doc who knows what they’re doing. She does for me.

I give two stars because Sylvia Batong is a certified medical professional, but there is something amiss about this practice. Could be influence from the Calvert Medical conglomerate which administers this practice. Staff was evasive about a simple question regarding absence of the need for fasting before blood and urine lab work. Posting to their "portal" usually occurs after prompting this office. I don't get a feeling of trust and confidence with this practice. There is this air of arrogance or defensiveness. I will not return to waste valuable Medicare and TriCare resources.

We are very unhappy with Dr. Batong overall. She seems lackadaisical and uninterested, and is often condescending. Abrupt when answering our questions. We get the feeling we are taking up her valuable time. She has non-medical office staff return phone calls regarding medical questions with her instructions, but they are reading them. They can't answer any follow-up questions, so you have to wait again. They get messages confused. Often they don't call back. Recently I called them after waiting days for an answer, and they read me answers on another patients file! I've called three times regarding one issue, and I've yet to hear back. We have now changed primary care physicians.

I'm a first time patient and wanted to make some appointments for myself and daughters. The staff member on the phone was ugly on the phone. She said that my daughters are over the age of 18 she needs to make her own appointment. When I said I will be going back with my daughter when she see the doctor she said I cant even if my daughter wants me too. Its up to the doctor to let me NOT the patient. This the first time I had this happen. This is their lost not mine. They lost out of four patient

I wouldn't recommend her to anyone for anything. She's rude and dismissive and actually had the nerve to tell me that I had too many issues for her to deal with. Every question you ask her she has to look up on her computer and never makes eye contact.
