This is my fiance's PCP. In 2019, he went for a check-up and asked the doctor about a lump underneath the skin on the back of his neck. I had felt this lump numerous times prior and it was pretty hard, probably about the size of a shelled macadamia. The doctor told him it was nothing. Fast forward two years, it's now 2021, the lump has remained and actually doubled in size and the pain is now more prominent. We went to the emergency room this passed Saturday to have it drained. The doctor said it was infected and now we know it was a sebaceous cyst and the best part is, it's recurring unless he has the sac removed. In order to have the sac removed, he needs to see a dermatologist. In order to see a dermatologist, he needs a referral. See where I'm going with this? So, he made an appointment to see his doctor. The receptionist didn't waste any time telling him that we wouldn't be able to get a derm referral quickly. In fact, she was clear it'd be no less than a month.
