Technologically backward and defensive
Lack of appropriate technology made it difficult to retrieve paperwork and get background tests for lab work etc to and from the doctor's office. A nurse suggested I not take my insulin hours before and after the procedure (which would have killed me, had I complied.) For correcting this potentially deadly mistake, and for expressing frustration at some bumps in the road (frustration not always with the doctor's staff at all) the doctor canceled my surgery saying she would only work under 'completely ideal' conditions; my asking for help and information along the way, or expressing anything but perfect calm apparently made the conditions no longer ideal.
