Dr. Stuart Burgess, MD

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Burgess for over three years and he has successfully treated my wet macular degeneration, as well as dry macular degeneration. He is a brilliant retina specialist. His assistant, Hunter, has always been very helpful and always put me at ease during my visits. I highly recommend these outstanding professionals.

This is above & beyond... I was on my daily bike ride, the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. My eye sight in my right eye suddenly started to fade rapidly. I basically could not see by the time I arrived home. I called my Eye Doctor, who met me at his office an hour after I called him. He did a full eye exam. He told me, I had a Retina tear with bleeding behind the eye, which is why I could not see. He immediately called Dr. Stuart Burgess, who met with me at The Florida Eye Institute 30 minutes later. Again, it was Sunday, about 2:30pm Labor Day Weekend!! He unlocked the door, did a full eye exam, AND... Laser Surgery!! Wow! Thank you Dr. Burgess! That people, is high level patient care! I did a followup 3 days later. All looked good, I am on the road to recovery! Exceptional experience!

Dr. Burgess is a fabulous doctor! He is very kind and considerate to all patients. I had a hole in my retina. Dr. Burgess also noted tears in my retina and went to work and treated me using laser. All is excellent now. Don't worry about waiting time, if I had to wait outside overnight, just to see Br. Burgess, I would. I highly recommend Dr. Burgess.

Woke up day before thanksgiving unable to see out of the bottom half of my right eye. Called my cataract surgeon who called Dr Burgess and got me an appointment that afternoon. Got to the institute at 4pm. Pat who was very nice, took pictures of my eye. Waited until around 5:30. Most of the staff had gone home. Dr Burgess came out brought me to an exam room showed me pics of my eye told me I had a torn retina. Apologized for the wait and said he wanted to wait until the patients were gone. Explained that he could do the procedure in the office immediately. Two hours later we were finished. He instructed me what I had to do to take care of my eye,gavme his cell phone number and if any problems arose I should call even if it was in the middle of thanksging dinner”! Explained that the office was closed on Friday but he was going to come in and open it up to see me Long story short I saw him and his excellent staff last time on Apr. 23 when I was cleared with my vision excellent!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Burgess for many years for my AMD. He has always provided me with the latest treatments that are available. Explains everything thoroughly. Thanks to his treatments I still have my eyesight. His assistant Hunter always puts me at ease before my treatments.

After moving past the not so interested front desk and into the Doctors Waiting area I was treated very professionally The technicians Daniel and especially Hunter went out of their way to make my visit easier. It had been a very busy (lots of emergencies in the AM) and appointments were a little delayed. I was quickly moved through all the test procedures. Dr. Burgess was very professional, introducing himself and explaining what he found after examining my photographs. His examination seemed more than thorough and his diagnosis was explained in detail. His recommendations were very clear and easy to follow. I look forward to seeing him on my follow up visit.

He is very nice approachable, he answers all of yours questions. He’s checking everything thing the office is nice doing a lot of testing checking off all of the boxes before giving his findings and results. I would recommend him for any first timers looking for retinal doctor and the staff is very nice and professional.

My mom was being treated by Dr Burgess. She saw him on the 25th, and woke up blind on the 27th. She got an infection from the procedure that ruined her retina. Dr Burgess did not even have the antibiotics to give her to stop the infection. I had to rush her to Bascom Palmer Eye institute for emergency surgery. She waited there by herself for 12 hours to get that surgery as the infection was destroying her sight. She can no longer work, she can no longer drive, she can no longer leave the house by herself. It is a tragedy and would not have happened if he was not her doctor. When I asked him why did this happen at his office he simply gave me a statistic, "1 in 4500 people will have this happen." Don't be one of Dr Burgess' statistics. Spare yourself

Dr. Burgess’ entire staff is friendly, helpful & maintain CDC Covid-19 precautions. Each have answered any questions I might ask & have not seemed annoyed to do so. Dr. Burgess & assistants have insured that my macular degeneration eye injections are PAINLESS & without complications for almost ten years. I am still independent & driving thanks to God, Avastin & the Eye Institute staff! A new patient need not fear going to an appointment.

Dr. Burgess is top notch! Answers all questions completely! Excellent patient concern! His facility, Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute, is a large facility, but is one of the more well run and efficient providers I have ever received care from!

On Wednesday, September 22, 2016, I was diagnosed with a large retinal tear in my right eye. My primary care eye doctor recommended that I immediately go to your facility for specialized treatment.
