Great technique, post-op follow-up, & communicatio
Dr. Shoemaker has been absolutely fantastic from several aspects. I had hammertoe surgery on four toes over 3 years ago by another surgeon. Although hammertoe surgery has a high success rate, mine was not successful in the sense that my toes ended up going in four different directions. Whether the surgeon did anything wrong, I don't know. I do know, however, that the level of communication and post-op follow-up that I received was definitely sub-par. I had a second hammertoe surgery three weeks ago by Dr. Shoemaker. Several things stand out. Dr. Shoemaker has a less invasive surgery approach that results in much faster healing (as well as not requiring pins to be stuck in my toes for 6-7 weeks). He also has excellent post-op follow up and good communication skills.I have heard similar accolades about him from others. I strongly recommend him.

Do not trust this doctor.
Can't give 0 stars. Had surgery for a broken foot and ended up with a cadaver bone graft. After monthly appointments for a year, and MRI which indicated the bones didn't fuse, was still told that everything was great and healed nicely and he didn't believe what the MRI said. Ended up going to an orthopedic surgeon and was told the bones did not fuse and I would have to have surgery again. Serious problem when the doctor disregards a medical test.

So unprofessional!
If I could give zero stars, believe me, I would. I went to this doctor's office and he told me it would be $500 for orthotics and that I would have to pay for them. I said Okay. This was back in January of 2022. I got a call the next day from their office telling me that their computer didn't save the measurements for my orthotics and I would have to come back to their office...two hours away. So I told them it was just too far to drive and I would get my orthotics locally. They agreed to refund my money, which they did. Now, 8 months later, I have received a bill from them for $507.54. I called their office and I am told that I owe this money for exam and x-rays. I was told it would be a total of $500 when I was there and now I am told it would have been over $1,000 had I actually gotten orthotics from them. I actually got everything done here in Chico, CA for half that price.

I went here for plantar fasciitis pain that has been bothering me for years! I have done my research and Dr Shoemaker offers the Shock wave therapy for it. Best thing I’ve ever done and I can continue to run!!! Thank you to Melissa and Elizabeth for their knowledge and pleasant attitudes!

Long stort short: I felt like I was getting the shake down for every last penny here. I went here for a foot issue that had been nagging for a while. Each visit was a merciless attempt to get laser this or advanced treatment that. The doctor asked multiple times what my finances were looking like and would then recomment laser treatments that werent covered by any type of insurance that were at minimum 750 dollars. I went two times to the office and the second time I was pressured to get an

I was very excited when I found out my PPO insurance was accepted by Dr. Shoemaker. He was very kind and his bedside manner was fabulous. My youngest child needed to have reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. He has made a full recovery now and is running and playing sports without pain and discomfort. Thank you Dr. Shoemaker and your staff for your kindness and exceptional care.

I definitely do NOT recommend Dr. Shoemaker. Although he was a preferred provider for my insurance, he ignored the negotiated rates and expected me to cover the difference in what he feels should be charged for the office visit and an orthotic. The 2nd expensive orthotic he made for me was faulty and he first offered to sell me another orthotic and then said I can come back for another paid office visit so he can fix the orthotic. He sees 40 patients/day, so do not expect quality time.

I was told by Dr. Shoemaker that I had fractured my foot, that it had healed wrong, and that he would need to surgically repair it. Four screws and two years later, after he diagnosed multiple fractures and kept me in a fracture boot for seven months straight, I got a second opinion. Armed with all the X-rays and MRI's it was confirmed that I had been lied to. My foot was never broken!!!!
