Very professional staff. Extensive testing to diagnose how to proceed with my eye problems. Wait time is very long but worth the time. Dr. Safran speaks to you in very layman terms. His terminology can be quite frank which I really enjoy. You can tell he is very astute and concise in his diagnosis. I found him to be very trustworthy.

World Class Care
Dr. Safran is a highly respected eye surgeon domestically and internationally. He has taught many ophthalmic surgeons throughout the world and as a result is referred patients from colleagues worldwide. I have personally referred complex anterior segment surgical patients to him with outstanding results. The feedback from my patients has been enthusiastic appreciation for his skill and my recommendation that they consult with Dr. Safran. I have referred family members to him for his excellent care and appreciated the time he spent carefully evaluating and advising them. He is a unique talent in central New Jersey with literally a worldwide patient base.

World class
I am a fellow eye surgeon who has personally preformed upwards of 20,000 cataract operations. While Dr. Safran does not practice near me, I am well aquanted with his work and level of surgical skill, which I consider to be truly extraordinary. Over the years my colleagues and partners in my large group practice have referred Dr. Safran several dozen of the most complicated anterior segment surgical cases you can imagine. Ophthalmology has become very specialized, with individual doctors becoming experts in, for example, cataract surgery, retina surgery, glaucoma, surgery, iris, repair, etc. Dr. Safran is skilled in all of these surgical subspecialties. This broad skill set has allowed him to treat complicated surgical problems at most other eye surgeons would not feel comfortable attempting. While his skill set is not totally unique, it is quite rare, and I would consider him one of the 10 or so best ophthalmic surgeons in the country.

The Best
I travelled from NH to see Dr. Safran. My right eye was a mess and my doctor could only shrug her shoulders. A recommendation and research led me to Dr. Safran who brought me back to near perfect vision from near total blindness. He then replaced the lens in the other eye and now need no corrective lens. The last time I could say that I was in second grade. Plus he’s a very funny guy and clearly loves his work.

He refused to answer questions following cataract surgery. He just said everything is perfect. Also, wait times at his office are often 1 or 2 hours after your scheduled time.

1st visit for Macular Degeneration. Given Ivermectin 3mg of 6 pills Monday n 1 pill weekly. Demodex Mites flew to my private areas! 100 yr old looking now from a 16 yr old's my whole life!! .. Recalled office, told to redo 6 pills n 1 weekly. After 6 pills day mites inflamed the whole left side of my head. Especially my eye lids~scalp~cheek under eye~lump in front of ear lobe! I look like a freak! .. Office gal says he needs to see you, make an appointment .. ME: he needs to call places to see what kills Demodex Mites first! I have pictures to email, have an email? .. She says he needs to see you .. ME: No, not wasting my gas or money! He needs to know what kills them first! FYI: DEMODEX MITES cause Macular Degeneration and numerous other things in humans and mange in dogs/animals are caused by them too! .. I am not happy with a couple of his office staff! .. I am a high class professional model / biz owner /medical researcher! Over priced on Cliradex by $29.01! Approved Dec 02, 2020

it was not a good experience both times I have been there. The nurses had no sympathy and no patience for any questions or concerns I had, he was rather rude and rough with me, also the appointment takes about 10 hours so make sure you have nothing planned. They are not very helpful as he referred me to a corneal specialist who is no longer in business. I honestly do not like this facility at all and currently finding a new one.

Wonderful! I have bad cataract lenses from Medicare that actually attract more cataract matter. They were put in by a large local group at Capital Health. I also got a lump on my eye after they did that. They were not treating it so I went to another doctor in Mercer County. He was very odd and also did not treat the lump. Finally got to Dr. Safran and he put a medication on it and it went away. He also referred me for macular degeneration and I got an antibiotic with that treatment which took away the lump permanently. Dr. Safran is a safer choice than some of the stupid ones around here.

This brilliant doctor restored the vision in my left eye by preforming a risky cataract lense replacement. I had cataract surgery done elsewhere by an incompetent doctor who managed to damage both Christaline lenses, The left lens being cracked right down the center. I was told by a local ophthalmologist that lens replacement was not possible. This local ophthalmologist was affiliated with Wills eye and had never heard of lunch replacement. It was just by chance at my local health club that I mentioned my lack of vision and how impaired I was. My lens replacement surgery was successfully completed at a beautiful new hospital in New Jersey, capital health and I am thrilled that I once again and able to drive and enjoy My life again!

Beware of what you are told. Went for cataract opinion and told I may have glaucoma and when doing the cataract surgery will put a shunt in. Second opinion by glaucoma specialist confirmed NO glaucoma. Because I have a thick cornea which is very good this will increase intra ocular pressure. No other glaucoma symptoms. Optic Nerve is perfect, visual field normal and angles are open. ARE YOU KIDDING! Never trust one opinion.

Had lightning-like obstruction of vision at 10PM. Called hot line and repeatedly got a heart docs' service. Told to keep trying and I might eventually get to right service. Finally got thru. They contacted Saffron and relayed that he said to come in in the morning when they were open. Assumed it must not be critical. At 4 AM, I woke up blind in my right eye. Went to Will's eye and they confirmed I was permanently blind in my right eye. Thanks a lot, doc. No followup. Don't go to him.
