Dr. Steven Liu, MD

I’ve been under Dr Liu’s care since 2013 when I was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma. Prior to my first appt he called to introduce himself and discuss my diagnosis. He told me about the kind of cancer I had and treatment. He was kind, caring and calmed my anxiety. Dr. Liu gave me options but also gave me his opinion and why. He provided me with the symptoms (I was symptom free) if my disease progressed faster than anticipated and would let me know when it was time for treatment. I trust his judgment and expertise. In 2022, treatment was required. He presented me with options - chemo/immune therapy or a clinical trial (new drug). He explained how the drugs work and associated risks/side effects. I went with the trial – albeit not cancer free he considered the trial a success, and I am back to stable condition potentially for a lifetime. During the treatment he texted and called after and between treatment. Although I now live in Texas, I continue to travel to Alaska to see Dr. Liu – I trust him, his knowledge, his terrific “bed side manner”, and he truly cares about his patients. Dr. Liu has been my Oncologist for almost 8 years. Throughout my treatment, he has always gone above and beyond to make sure I receive the care I need. He's made time for me between appointments and has proven to be knowledgeable whenever I've had questions, getting as technical as he can while still ensuring I understand the information. He pointed me towards participation in a medication trial that greatly improved my patient experience and has been empathetic in my struggles dealing with the insurance apparatus. Overall, he's been a key ally in my cancer journey.

Dr Liu is caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, and takes time to explain everything. 11 years after diagnosis I’m doing well. Dr Liu is the best.

Dr. Liu is wonderful! He has been very compassionate during my treatment for Leukemia. He answers all my questions and fought to get me accepted at Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Seattle, WA. I would highly recommend him if you are looking for a doctor to help you through your cancer journey! I especially appreciate that he will see me whenever I need to be seen. I have his phone number to contact him whenever there is an emergency or I feel like the front office does not understand why I need to see him.

From the moment I met Dr. Liu and his team, I knew I was in good hands. All of them were warm and caring and provided me with clear and complete information about my diagnosis of peritoneal cancer, the treatment options, and what to expect over the coming months. That was over three years ago, and I feel confident that I have received the best available care from the nicest providers I can imagine. They are always available to address my questions and reassure me regarding any concerns. I would highly recommend Dr. Liu and his team.

I could not have asked for a better doctor during the hardest time of my life. Dr. Liu takes time to explain things, gives out his phone number in case there are issues after a treatment or questions, and is the most caring doctor I have ever met - which was extra special because it was at the worst time in my life getting cancer treatment. He also treated my grandmother and a friend's husband and they received the exact high-quality care. He is SUPERB!

Words are not enough to describe the professional care I have received from Dr. Liu. The level of medical treatment and professional care is immeasurable. Dr. Liu is a doctor who follow along with his patents. His treatment and recommendation for improved health is one of a kind. I experienced a 360 degree turn around with my medical condition as soon as I started treatment with Dr. Liu. His staff is superb, and he is not just my doctor, but a friend and I do not mind calling him my father. He is a truly caring doctor who knows his patients well and ensure they received the best care. He is my doctor, and I am proud to say that any day. Five star all the way!!!

My experiences with Dr. Lui and his PA, Pam Title have been excellent. They are willing to go the extra mile for a patient. I am a pancreatic cancer IV survivor; Also, I am a snow bird, traveling back and forth to Ca from AK. He enthusiastically communicated and worked well with my CA oncologist giving me a complete and continuous treatment. I did not miss any chemotherapy treatments, or blood draws, or follow-up appts. due to my travels. He as weil as his P.A. are very kind and helpful and have gone the extra mile for me. I think I may get kicked out of their office for awhile for currently I am stable! :)

One of the worst medical appointments I’ve EVER experienced. I was literally in tears all the way out to the parking lot. Not only did I wait 1 1/2 hours past my appt time to see him (after driving 2 1/2 hrs to see him bc he was rated so highly) Dr Lui dismissed my concerns and wrote me off 1 min into the appt. He was pompous and demoralizing. This dr spent very little time and wasn’t even willing to listen to my patient history. I hope no one else ever has to go through and deal with the lack of compassion and concern that I did with this dr. I was beside myself after seeing all the great reviews. I had high hopes, but those were crushed with Dr Lui.

I have been with Dr. Liu for almost four years now. He is very knowledgeable in his field and has always been honest and truthful with me. When I was first diagnosed with MM I thought that my time was up but he assured me with the right treatment that I could beat the cancer. I would recommend Dr. Liu for anyone seeking a very experienced oncologist.

A very compassionate doctor. He cured my mother who had stage 3 breast cancer.

There is no better physician than Dr. Liu. He is everything one wants in a doctor. This gentleman is kind, funny, warm, extremely intellectual, but his explanations understandable. I have never seen him talk over or down to a Pt, he's easy to approach, and nurses like him. Other providers think highly of Dr. Liu & see him personally if need arises. Dr. Liu happily goes the extra mile. This man loves what he does and it shows but his humbleness does also. I was dying and he saved my life.

Dr. Liu is among the top 1% of physicians I know. As a colleague, he is always responsive when I have a patient in need. He has helped to alleviate severe pain in some very complex patients that I have sent to him. I would recommend Dr. Liu without hesitation to any friend or family member. The Anchorage community and state of Alaska is lucky to have Dr. Liu!
