Dr. Steven Hollstien, MD

Dr Hollstien listens to me when I explain what my most recent (usually self-inflicted) problem is and he tells me what the options are, what he recommends and why and he answers my questions, no problem. I trust him and his assistant wholeheartedly. He's never suggested that I stop engaging in the sport that has caused most of my injuries. I wish more doctors were like him!

Dr. Hollstien not only is a caring doctor, but he's an excellent surgeon. I had minimal pain and a fast recovery due to his excellent surgical skills. And, the nurses love him!!

Dr. Hollstien has performed knee replacement surgery on both of my knees. He is so skillful and talented that I have not had one single issue with either knee. He is caring, patient and very accessible when he is needed. I highly recommend him for any orthopedic matter one may have.

Dr. Hollstien is a very talented, amazing orthopedic surgeon! From the initial visit through the surgery process it was a very positive, professional, and successful journey. He is kind, empathetic, patient, and extremely skilled. His assistant Carol and the rest of the office staff are very efficient and organized. The surgery and stay at Goleta Cottage Hospital was exceptional. Thanks to the team above I am not limping anymore and actually playing pickleball on my new partial knee replacement! I highly recommend Dr. Hollstien!

I really liked his care and concern regarding my upcoming operation. He answered all my questions and was willing to take the time to get to know me as a person.

While sometimes the wait time is longish, Dr. Hollstien makes the short wait worth it. He is kind and understanding of my aliments. He is also easy to converse with and does not treat me like I am a number on the list. Overall, highly recommend!

Dr. Hollstein is great. I had to come from San Luis Obispo to see him a handful of times, but the quality of care easily made the drive worth it. I was hit by a car while on my motorcycle and broke one wrist and had a mangled pinky on the opposite hand that required surgery. Not only did he do a bang-up job in repairing my pinky, he was also excellent in helping me rehab afterwards. I can happily say now that just a few short months later I'm back to full strength. Thanks to the staff as well!

Dr. Hollstien reattached my ruptured quadriceps tendon about 6 weeks ago. He fit me into his very busy schedule, provided me a clear picture of the surgery that he would perform, has been extremely pleasant and easy to talk with, apparently performed the surgery successfully, and has been clear and thorough in each post-operative appointment. He has a very gentle and reassuring manner so I trust him. I think he is a superb doctor and I highly recommend him.

2nd hip replacement by Dr. Steven Hollstien. (1 on each side, not a 'do-over') Perfect work! The skills of an artist, a scientist, an engineer and a physician all rolled into one magnificent orthopedic surgeon.

The doctor is nice and knowledgable but every time I go to his office I have to wait over 45 minutes I don't know why they have times if they make you wait so much ??

Dr Hollstein replaced my right hip 3 weeks ago. I'm already walking without a cane. His bed side manner is compassionate and extraordinary. He spent a lot of time with me at my first appointment with him. I have never experienced any need to be in any hospital prior to this procedure. I am having my left hip done in a few months. I am an active 56-year-old woman and with Dr. Hollstein's positive approach I am excited to get my own pain-free life back and get back into joie de vivre!

He's very straight forward which, I appreciate. His assistant is very helpful and makes up for ill-bahaved office staff.
