I went to him because my blood counts were a little high. His labs came back saying, “Leukemia”: I phoned but he didn’t bother to return my call. I had to sit with this diagnosis & wait 3 weeks to see him & I don’t have that. I don’t recommend him.

Misdiagnosed, Missed Tests & Inappropriate
Misdiagnosed me, misinformed me, told me & incorrectly notated in clinical notes I had 2 crucial tests I should have received but did not. I kept phoning re results, was blown off a # of times, given grossly incorrect info, no callbacks. I felt extremely tired & low energy, but took the trouble to make an extra trip to the city to go to his office. Was told I’d be asked to leave if I didn’t lower my tone. I was so fatigued from this extra trip, I got locked out of my apt. It cost me $751. He said they’d reimburse me so I went back. Otherwise, I would never have stepped foot there again. He said he forgot, was also a little inappropriate & unprofessional & he gave me the runaround again & refused to pay. The staff sprayed the entire waiting room w/ Lysol, which contains benzene, a carcinogen. I spoke up, was told they'd just had a Covid patient so explained there are ways to disinfect w/out causing harm - esp. to cancer patients. No one with serious health concerns needs this!

Straight shooter.
I had only positive experiences with Dr. Gruenstein, he doesnt hold back, gives it to you straight. Take it or leave it but he isnt about to sugar coat it for you. He will help you and you help yourself as well. I love that!

Sexist, inappropriate behavior
Dr. Gruenstein may be a good oncologist but he is condescending, does not like questions, and makes inappropriate comments (Are you wearing any underwear? Are you wearing a bra? Why do women ask so many questions when men don't?). Despicable behavior towards me, a cancer patient, receiving chemotherapy. Changed oncologists and would NEVER go back to Dr. Gruenstein.

No bedside manner. He refused to return any of my phone calls. Said he does not return calls. In office he was gruff and slightly inappropriate to me as a female patient. Hi medical knowledge seemed to be excellent. But I will not go back
