Dr Carter was professional, competent and mostly compassionate. I felt listened to and treated with upmost respect.

Colorectal surgery group examined me and disappeared for 4-5 hours before I was notified that they were refused to deal with issue and ER doctor said I should be admitted before another doctor examined me.

I was in the waiting room for 3 hours at Dr. Carter's office. When I finally got to see him he didn't even examine me. He based his decision on a written report of a prior colonoscopy that had revealed nothing I'll never trust this surgeon.

My wife was diagnosed with colon & rectal cancer 5/23/19. We made an appointment with Dr. Carter. 6/12/19 We found him well spoken and very professional. He showed us the MRI image of my wife's problem and explained thoroughly what his plan of action would be. He made an appointment with radiology this same day and had a surgery date already scheduled. He assured my wife she would be "Ok" which was a huge comfort to us. On 7/19/19 she did have the surgery at OU Medical in Edmond which was a complete success. My wife was able to eat shortly after surgery this after having 6 inches of colon and six inches of rectum and a small tumor removed with no colostomy bag. Surgery was 8:30 am July 19th. She was dismissed from the hospital the next day at 2:30 PM. We can not thank him or show Dr. Carter how much we appreciate his remarkable surgical skills, caring and compassion as were all the OU Medical Teams. Thank you all for your life saving skills. We would Highly recommend Dr. Carter.

Dr Carter diagnosed my problem when other doctors could not. He spotted an abscess and performed my sigmoid colectomy and I did not have to have a "bag". I found him to be amiable and straight forward and had no problems with him and no problems after the surgery. He performed the follow up exam in a professional way and I found his nurse and office staff to be friendly, caring and professional. I recommended him to a friend recently. He's the guy to go to in Norman OK, I'm proof of that.

Dr. Carter did a wonderful job in explaining my condition, and thoroughly answered all of my questions. On the morning of my surgery he was very pleasant and again thorough in his answers to my husband's questions. I would not hesitate recommending him.

I was referred to Dr. Carter by another surgeon who told me my surgery was too complicated, and that I needed to see Dr. Carter. I am so glad he sent me to Dr. Carter. Dr. Carter is not only an excellent surgeon but he is also a very kind and caring physician. He took his time to explain my options and the surgery I needed. He was not rushed but patient and caring. I highly recommend Dr. Carter and his excellent staff.

This man has no bedside manner. He is rude and condescending. He did an exam that hurt so bad I cried and then He told me he couldn't help me, and now I am going in for emergency surgery for a problem that he could've helped fix. His nurse was the only one there that showed any kind of compassion. He couldn't even hand me a tissue after he did his exam, which felt like he was pulling my intestines out. If you get referred to him, I suggest getting a second opinion.

I was referred to Dr Carter for hemorrhoid banding. Unfortunately, and at time of exam, I learned that Suction/Banding machine was broken so banding procedure could not be performed immediately following exam as is customary. Exam is uncomfortable, and drive from OKC to Norman is long. Doctor and staff should have rescheduled or postponed my appointment until suction/banding machine was operative.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Carter and his staff. If you are seeing Dr. Carter, you are likely being seen for an issue no one wants to have, let alone discuss with a perfect stranger. I was very nervous, but can't thank Dr. Carter and his staff enough for being sensitive, kind and attentive to my questions/concerns. Good bedside manner by all in his office. P.S. The Steven Carter referred to by another reviewer re: OSCN.net...is not this Steven N. Carter, MD. Different middle names.

I would not recommend him! Do your home work, I should have. Look at OSCN Dockets, it will answer your questions. I am lucky to be alive today. I am seeing another DR. now to repair a herniated spot that he left me with. Cut on me June 6, 15. I did not get back to work until late Nov. 2015. I had 6 of my Colon remover because of diverticulitis. Then leaked inside of me. Made several trips to the ER and 1 night in ICU. I was in the hospital about 40+ days. FIND SOMEONE ELSE!!

My husband was supposed to have colorectal surgery on December 23rd 2015. That surgery was cancelled due to having high blood pressure completely understandable. Called Cindy the following Monday after Christmas she scheduled surgery for January 7th 2016 said she would call me back with a time I never received a phone call so I called the office myself Monday January 3rd 2016 to find a time and dr. Carter was no longer with Integra didn' so we have to start over and find my husband a new surgeon
