Great Doctor; horrible front office staff
I wish I could leave a review solely for Dr. Cannella, but the entire experience must be considered. I felt very confident with Dr. Cannella's treatment, and I would give him a 5 star rating. Unfortunately, to get an appointment to see Dr. Cannella, you must go through the absolute worst treatment by an office staff I have ever encountered. If you are actually able to talk to a person, they are condescending and very unhelpful. However, most times they won't answer the phone or return phone calls. Once when a person actually answered the phone, he was very flippant and told me 'you just stay right by your phone and you'll get a call right back'. I'm still waiting for that call two months later. It's not because they are too busy; one of the two times I was able to get an appointment, I witnessed the office staff ignoring the telephone while chatting amongst themselves. They were not discussing business. This was the Webster office - maybe it's better at one of the other locations.

He has been an excellent listener. His calm manner is most helpful. He consistently offers options without attempting to influence my decision. I am very grateful for his professional care.

False Reporting
I was told by Spine and Pain Specialist that Dr. Cannella report that the reason he removed me as a patient was that I requested that Dr. Cannella increase my opioid meds. I did not talk with Cannella or request an increase in pain meds. I requested help. He never talked to me. Cannella did not call me he had a staff member call and remove me as a patient. Spine and Pain Specialist reported that I only requested an increase in opioids. This was not true. I never talked with him. I just wanted help. He refused any help.

Dr. Cannella does not have any respect for his patients time as it is common for him to keep you waiting an hour or more. It happened several times and then I just decided that my time as just as valuable as his was and I found another doctor who kept scheduled better and did not keep his patients waiting.

I arrived at the hospital anxious. When they took me to pre-op holding, my blood pressure was high but they didn't do anything about my anxiety or elevated vital signs. I'll be complaining to his medical board about it. Be warned!!

the wait is awful sometimes but the worst is he's unwilling the actually help you. sure he's got all kinds of weird and random test to charge the insurance company but he won't prescribe anything helpful. Even after years of x-rays and MRIs. This whole opioid epidemic is causing more harm than help.

I went to see Dr Canella , we had our first visit ans he ordered a CT. From that moment on he and his practice have left me hanging. I asked before leaving if I needed to make a follow up appt."no we will call you when we get the reults" 5 days later, no call. I spoke to his asst and she said "he was out of town and would call me to set up next steps." 7 days later no call, I left a message for he assistant again, no return call. I went and got my own CT results and was shocked to find out that not only do I have back issues I have other medical issues that need attention. THANKS for making me navigate and attempt to understand these issues alone. Horrible thing to do to your patient!

He is concerned with making lots of money by doing repeated spinal ablations and steroid injections. I had severe headaches after the first one. He lied about my MRI results and told me they were normal and insisted he do 4 more of the same procedures. He caused cerebral spinal leak and this caused the back part of my brain to be sucked into my neck and crumple my spinal cord. I suddenly went blind (black) and a neurosurgeon had to saw off my neck vertebrae and saw a hole in my skull.

My complaint is not specifically with Dr. Cannella, but with the clinic in general. Before I ever met Dr. Cannella, the clinic drew blood for lab work. I explained over and over that I was not at the clinic for pain medicine, but for a non-narcotic treatment. The nurse said over and over "don't worry, you have insurance". These test were completely unnecessary. I was never informed of any results from these tests. By the way, $8500.00 for these test.

Dr Cannella is a good Dr but unfortunately you have to deal with his office staff in order to see a Dr. This office truly has the rudest personnel that I have ever dealt with. It's unfortunate that such a good Dr has to lose clients because of his choices of support staff. I have heard many people remark to each other about the rudeness of the staff at this office. The rudeness of the staff seems to be the topic of most conversation in the waiting area. That is sad.

After going in with no pain and getting spinal steroid injections in my neck Friday and having pain worse than what I originally went in there for throughout the weekend I call for an appointment Monday. The soonest his ace staff can schedule me to see him is three weeks. Not so good to say the least.
