Went in a couple of hours ago after having consistently high blood pressure all day (207 over 103 and even higher).I have a stent in my heart that I've already had for 5 years and was told by my cardiologist that my top blood pressure number should never get over 140. All day I have been taking my blood pressure medication trying to bring it down, but it continued going up. By the time I got to the hospital it had lowered to 180 over 97. Dr Avezzano was incredibly rude, did absolutely nothing to lower my blood pressure, dismissed the pain I was having on my neck shoulder and down my arm as being a pulled muscle despite me doing absolutely nothing to have caused a pulled muscle in the past week, and told me to throw away my blood pressure monitor because monitoring my blood pressure so much is probably what caused it to get so high. When I asked what does he consider high and when should I be alarmed he responded irritably with , 'a blood pressure of 400 over 300' and sent me home.

Doesn’t belong in the ER
I went to the ER last night with chest pains, he stood at the door talking to me, not concerned at all, ran a few test all test were good thank God, but still never told me what could be causing it, sent me home but did give me an option to stay over night or go home, told me to follow up with my Doctor. He doesn’t care he doesn’t belong in the ER. He’s the same Doctor that sent my daughter home when she needed emergency, gallbladder surgery!

Horrible Doctor
Sent to Jackson’s via ambulance for a CT scan after being told my bloodwork showed enzyme markers for a clot. Very rude dr. Didn’t seem at all concerned with the pain or urgency of the situation. The hospital staff was very nice. But he was not!

Really a zero rating.
Very poor experience. No compassion, no basic interest shown for 93 year old mother who fell. I had to plead with the RN to call her regular physician to order full evaluation after Dr. Avezzano was going to discharge without even listening to her medical history. This doctor is not doing the hospital or patients any good. We will definitely have second thought about returning to this Emergency Department.

This man is not practicing medicine. Stars = 0!
I agree with the others who have all said that Dr Avezanno was horrible! This man not only did not touch my roommate other than listen to her heart but said she should be seen by her primary care doctor. I said 'I thought that was why we came to the ER, to be seen by a doctor!' He literally handed my roomate a pamphlet about pinched nerves and said she *probably* had one. We asked about an MRI and he actaully said ther *wasn't* an MRI machine. Really? Not. Pain relief? Not. Physical exam? nope. Five weeks later, xrays and an MRI indicate that my roommate's shoulder is bone-on-bone; no wonder she was in horrible pain when we went at 4 am. And after lodging a complaint with the hospital about his treatment, there is still a bill -- for the 20 minutes we were there -- for the visit. Ridiculous. The Hippocratic Oath says first do no harm... But this man did. Physically by omission, psychologically by his attitude, and financially by the charges incurred for no treatment.

I went to ER at 4a.m. the other morning and was SADLY to discover this guy. He's a PUKE! He spent all of 5 minutes with me. I am a painter here in the Gump and have a pinched nerve in my shoulder. I expected to receive help but was SADLY mistaken with this guy. Jackson's ER got a call from me and I told the person in charge that I will fight to not pay this puke $0.000 money. I will not see him again. If love to see how he treats elderly.

I came into Jackson hospital for a nose bleeding that’s been occurring regularly for the past 3 days and Dr. Steve Avezzano was assigned my Dr. for the night and he was very rude and very sarcastic. Soon as he approached me he asked what bring you in today I told him my sinuses been acting up I never had a nose bleed that occur for 3 days straight I tried every thing sinus medicine, nasal spray, humidifier, putting ice on my nose while I hold my head forward. Every thing the discharge paper said I already did and my nose will continue to bleed for 20 through 30 mins straight. And he gone tell me well what u thought your nose was going to do. With blood still sitting in my nose cause if I blow it I knew it would bleed every where he then say well don’t blow your nose then. I couldn’t do none but stare at him and cry I couldn’t believe a dr for 29 years treated and talked to me that kind of way. He immediately discharged me and referred me to ent. Didn’t care to hear what I had to say.

It was horrible. He did nothing for me, didn't answer my questions during an ER visit to Jackson Hospital. Then his staff didn't even file with my VA insurance and reported $ 5000 of bills to a credit agency, ruining my credit. Stay away!!!!!!!

This has got to be the worst doctor I have encountered. I went to the Jackson Hospital ER yesterday due to high blood pressure and high fever. He asked me what bring you in today. After I explained my medical issue plus informed him that I was scare because my blood pressure was too high. He proceeded to ask me why you came here why not go to your regular doctor. I guess I didn't answer the question to his satisfaction, so he began questioning me like I was in court on the stand. Also, he had the nerve to ask "why you scared about your blood pressure it is not at stoke level." While asking his questions he decided to check my chest and ankles barely touching me like he was just going through the motions. Afterward, he asked me what you think should happen today to get you better. For a moment everything went silent and we just looked at each other for like 15 seconds. After I calm myself down and gathered my thoughts, I couldn't take his rude and disrespectful behavior any longe
