Sarcoma Treatment
I was diagnosed with sarcoma after surgery to remove what was believed to be an inflamed lymph node. I contacted Mayo based on having sarcoma expertise. I called on a Monday and the following day, Dr. Attia called to tell me that he had reviewed my records and to offer an appointment later that week. He set up appointments for testing, which confirmed the diagnosis, and immediately set up a plan for surgery followed by radiation. Over the past year he has attended to that plan. He and his team have always been prompt and I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for an appointment. Often I was attended to earlier than appointment time. So far the plan has been a success and I am cancer free. I would highly recommend Dr. Attia and his team for anyone with sarcoma.

A Wonderful Doctor
Over 9 years ago, I discovered a lump in my upper thigh. My attempts to find treatment locally were disappointing so I called the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida and told them my concern. That same day, I received a call from Dr. Attia who immediately scheduled multiple tests for me at the Clinic. After 3 days, the tests confirm that the lump was a sarcoma, a very dangerous form of cancer. Dr. Attia’s professional skills and caring personality gave me the courage and strength to overcome this difficult diagnosis. Today, thanks to him, I continue to be cancer free.

Makes you feel like Family
After more than a decade of care from the Sarcoma team at the Mayo Clinic, I still feel joy driving onto the campus. From the friendly people at the welcome desks to the Doctors themselves, and everyone in between, they make you feel like you are a part of their family. If you, or anybody you care for, are unfortunate enough to need this type of specialized care, do yourself a favor and call the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Attia and the whole team will be give you the care you deserve.

Highly recommend
12 years ago my very rare thyroid sarcoma led me to the Mayo Clinic and Dr Attia and his team. It was a very scary time in my life. We didn’t know what the outcome would be but Dr Attia and team were with me the whole way. They were very helpful and caring and informed me and my family every step of the way. I had to travel 3 hours each way to get there and it was definitely worth it. If I come across anyone that may have the unfortunate need to consult a doctor for cancer, I whole heartedly and immediately suggest the Mayo Clinic and Dr Attia and his team.

Best of the Best!
I first saw Dr. Attia back in 2017 when my life was turned upside down. He was attentive, caring, understanding and knowledgeable of the situation I was in and within a few days had a plan in place. I travel to Mayo Jacksonville for observation and will continue, since he has saved my life. I am forever thankful for what he has done for me.

Excellent service
When I discovered that I had a soft tissue sarcoma, I sought the needed treatment, and found Dr. Attia at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, Fl. From the time he took on my care, he showed knowledge and care. If he saw anything that was unusual, he was diligent in checking and making sure that there was no progression of the cancer. His office staff and the medical staff that worked so closely with him were also knowledgeable, supportive, and caring.

Inadequate expertise and advice
Did not permit recording during visit. Did not provide accurate treatment information about my condition. After surgery I had a recurrence, so I went to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in NY. They knew what they were doing. Knowledge and treatment were an entirely different experience. What a difference from Mayo lite!

Dr. Attia and my sarcoma
Eight years ago I saw Dr. Attia about a huge sarcoma in my thigh. Dr. Attia and his team promptly treated me. The treatment plan worked. It included radiation and chemotherapy. They removed the sarcoma. I get scanned every year. The sarcoma is gone. He saved my life.

This review is to speak to the attention, care and professionalism of Dr. Steven Attia, D.O, Hematology and Medical Oncology of Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville Florida. Since my diagnosis of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST), I have been treated with careful analysis, detailed examinations, and critical reviews as if I were the President of the United States. We (my wife and I) can always count on Dr. Attia to give my visits the utmost attention to the tests and, most importantly, to our questions. His answers are not only direct in response to our questions but are also explained with complete details that afford us to clearly understand the results of the scans and lab work. Thank you, Dr. Attia.

I have been a patient of Dr. Attia for several years now, since my surgery for synovial soft tissue sarcoma. Dr. Attia is extremely knowledgeable in this specialty field, is not an alarmist, and has always been compassionate and takes the time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. During my screening visits he discusses my test results in a way I understand, is professional and I have always been satisfied with his care and judgement. I would highly recommend Dr. Attia to anyone who has been affected by this disease. John Scansarole

Highly recommend
My Wife was diagnosed with angiosarcoma earlier this year. Our local doctors recommended Mayo Clinic Jacksonville because of the rare nature of her condition. Dr. Attia and his team did a superb job of explaining the condition and our treatment options. We live a couple hours away from Jacksonville so Dr. Attia directed us to another wonderful doctor near us where my wife can get her chemotherapy treatments. Dr. Attia has been very communicative with the treatment center and directs and oversees my wife’s care. This has been a very difficult time for our family but we are receiving the best care available thanks to Dr. Attia and Mayo Clinic.

Desmoid Tumor Expert
After facing some daunting options for my Desmoid tumor in my chest, I was recommended to Dr. Attia by a friend in a Desmoid group. From my very first visit he put me and my husband at ease. I was thrilled to learn that I was eligible for a clinical trial. The whole team, Dr Attia, Dr Ben Wilke and everyone who was a part of the clinical trial could Not have been more caring and supportive. My treatment has been a success and it has been life changing! I feel like I have my Life back. I have hope!

My husband is a patient of Dr. Attia. He has sarcoma. We do not live in Florida and drive several hours to get to Mayo. I always accompany my husband to his doctor appointments. Dr. Attia takes the time to talk with my husband about the test results and he always includes me by asking if I have any questions or concerns. Dr. Attia has always been open and honest about the diagnosis, treatment and what we could expect in the future. I would not hesitate to refer anyone to Dr. Attia.

Dr. Attia saved my dad’s life! My dad had a rare stomach tumor and Dr. Attia took the time to explain not only to my father, but to our family as well. He was and is always upfront with what we are facing and I truly feel like my father could not be in better hands than the hands of Dr. Attia. I’ll say it again, he saved my dad’s life and I will be FOREVER grateful to Dr. Attia and his team. The way he handled and still handles the care of my father makes him feel like family! I would recommend him and his team at the Mayo to anyone! He was and is an answered prayer!
