In 2000 he was my pediatrician, my daughters and now she is 24 years old and my son is 10 years old .I only got through the life altering unplanned baby with a slew of health issues for both of us .We had to be admitted together and in the same room several times .I wouldn’t of been ok if he wasn’t the kindest person let alone ,Doctor i’ve ever met .It was terrifying being alone with her when my grams went nAvk to work .I was scared she would stop breathing due to her asthma .If it was more thSn i was comfortable with when she was having episodes he would admit her so I knew she’d be in safe hands because let’s face it ,I was 15 year old child with a child .He never judged me or made me feel the way I knew people were thinking of me being a mother at such age .Ee we’re facing a lot in every aspect t,this msn is a godsend ;).I’m honored that my son now gets to have him as well as his doctor .I wouldn’t give any other doctor a opportunity butt this man.period

Prescribed wrong Medicine
I was a new patient. He literally told me that with parents on state aid he realized that parents knew best, so when I told him that one son had ADD and I was wondering if my other son did he spent like 1 or 2 minutes with him (he did not have he fill out any assessment charts) and then gave me a prescription that turned him into a zombie. When I had him seen by another doctor he told me the prescription was 3 times the amount allowed for his height and weight. I was to young back then to report it but I would now. Anyway the kicker is that my son had AUTISM not ADD. It would have been clear had he spent more than two seconds with him. And as for my knowing best, I NEVER WENT TO MEDICAL SCHOOL!!! Also I can attest to his arrogance. He kept me waiting forever and when he finally came in he was not coming to see my child he was showing a reporter how wonderful he designed his office...Including the toys the kept up on this shelf. When I went there no toy could be played with.

This man's ego is too big for his practice. The waiting room is filled with heavily soiled toys. I wouldn't let my child near the lego table. It looked like it was ready to sprout seeds. Beyond that, the aura of condescending arrogance in this office is over the top. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Dr. Shalfer has taken exceptional care of my kids! He is never quick to prescribe medication, only prescribing it when absolutely necessary and giving us the tools to help our little ones' bodies to do what they are built to do and heal themselves! He respects us as parents to make informed decisions about vaccines and has zero personal interest in our choice either way, only caring that we are making an informed decision. His whole staff has been an absolute joy!

Dr. Shlafer decided that he did not want to be my children's doctor because I chose to take my son to a walk in clinic when he broke his arm. The letter asking where I would like the records forwarded since I no longer trust his judgement. It was an emergency...He had a broken arm. I took my son to where he could be treated quickly. I have no respect for this man or his clinic.

Mr. Shlafer shared information about my ill daught with my sister. He broke confidentiality. He's also arrogant, rude, and takes as little time with patients as possible. When he was late to work and we had been sitting in the dirty waiting room for quite some time, he went into the office and talked loudly on his cellphone for all too hear. He had no qualms about wasting my time and then spent three minutes with us during our visit. His staff are also rude. Don't subject your child to this guy.

Shlafer tried to give treatment without explaining or giving me time to ask questions. Then, when I decided to change healthcare providers, he called CPS on me. I am qualified to be a CPS worker a I teach classes about children's health and development. There was no need for this vindictive action. If he was genuinely concerned that I might not seek alternative health care for my ill child, he could have called me and asked to confirm care with our new doctor. Deplorable and egotistical man.
