Cant say enough
I learned I needed brain surgery to remove a benign cyst in my brain about 3 weeks prior to meeting Dr Magill. Obviously, like anyone, I was terrified at the notion of it. However after meeting Dr Magill, he actually took the time to speak with me for about an hour answering every question I had, walking me through the entire process, and just making me feel comfortable and take away any doubts I had in my mind about the surgery. The way Dr Magill was able to explain everything and really go through it with me was refreshing to see a Doctor who cares about his patients. The surgery went great, Dr Magill took his time and ensured my health and safety was his #1 priority. I truly feel like Dr Magill gave me my life back without any complications from surgery and that is more than I could have asked for. If you are looking for a neurosurgeon who cares, is extremely skilled, and wants nothing but the best for you as a person, look no further than Dr Magill who I feel is truly the best.

Great Surgeon
I had a flexible endoscopic third ventriculostomy. I had the surgery on Wednesday and came home on Thursday. I had basically no pain. 2 weeks later I went for my post op appt. My staples were removed and I have no restrictions. It was amazing. I’d definitely recommend Dr Magill.

The “Tumornator”
Dr. Magill and his staff were great. My son came home for winter break and a headache, thought cold, turned into a brain tumor. Dr. Magill was very compassionate and knowledgeable! He removed the entire tumor and has been extremely diligent in follow up care for my son. I am forever grateful and thankful for his skill set!

Telehealth
My mother had surgery by Dr Magill. He was patient when explaining the procedure and our options. Surgery went great she has a minigoma close the spinal cord but that wasn’t a challenge for him. She is doing well and all thanks to Dr Magill and his great team. I highly recommend him.

Neurosurgery
I had unexpected emergency surgery to drain a hematoma on my brain. Dr. Magill was my surgeon. He was kind, optimistic, highly personable and thoroughly explained everything I needed to know. He patiently answered all of my questions (and there were many!) He was always most generous with his time and his staff is absolutely stellar. Most importantly, I am feeling close to 100% a mere 3 weeks post surgery.

Best Craniotomy Ever
Dr. Magill did my craniotomy to remove a large meningioma tumor. I couldn’t be happier with the results. The surgery went as expected, nothing went wrong, and I learned afterwards that this is thanks to his meticulous and careful work. Ahead of surgery he answered all my questions and made sure I understood what I needed to. I consulted other surgeons, because why not, but then confidently stuck with Magill. The reason is because I valued how much he prioritized taking all precautions. He did all the tests and assessments possible before surgery to make sure any potential risks would not be a surprise. There was a great attention to detail, and I felt like he carefully considered everything, even cosmetic things like hair regrowth around the incision. I am so grateful for Dr. Magill’s great skill and methodology.

Dr. Magill saved my son’s life!!
When my 22 year old son was nearly killed in a MVA, thankfully Dr. Magill was there to save his life. He worked diligently to do everything he possibly could to keep my son alive. He never hesitated to answer any and every question in terms we could understand as a family. As well as, he told us exactly what to expect. He was hopeful yet honest, and reassured us he would do everything medically possible to save my son. Dr. Magill is proactive instead of reactive, and aggressive in his approach to do what was needed to keep my son alive. His bedside manner made him feel like family and my family is forever grateful for his efforts and immense knowledge of the brain and brain injury. Because of him and his team my son survived an accident that no one thought he would survive and nearly 7 months later he is recovering well and thriving!!

After being diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer I arrived at NM early on a Thurs morning. Dr Maggill came to my room for introduction and surgery was set for next day 1:00pm. Was told poss 6 hrs procedure and recovery in ICU. I was back in my room by 5:30pm excellent quick surgery and no ICU recovery needed. Sat morning he came to follow up and released me on Sunday 1:00pm. 48 hrs after brain surgery I walked out or my room and out of the hospital. Within 7 days I felt normal again. Speech & memory came right back. Just had my post surgical visit today. Stitches out and will see me in 90 days for an MRI. DR Maggill is excellent, professional, courteous, compassionate and the list goes on. Although travel from SW suburbs to Northwestern Medical is tough but well worth it. That hospital is by far the best one I’ve ever been in. Him, his team and all his assocIates are some of the best in the business. Hats off to you and your team. Short of the scar on my head. LOL
