I've been seeing him for years. He is very funny and gentle, and you can tell he genuinely cares about you. He listens very well and is not dismissive.

Great Doctor
Dr. George immediately put me at ease. He is so knowledgable and kind. My shoulder had been killing me for almost a year. He gave me a shot and the pain is gone. He looked over every joint and noticed that my right knee did not look right. I had just been living with that pain - going up the stairs was excruciating. He said that I need to have another doctor look at it. He explained everything to me and I trust him implicitly.

Dismissive, unorganized and uncommunicative
I would not recommend Dr. George. He is a very poor communicator and disorganized. He was dismissive about several of my systems because they did not fall directly within his expertise. During my appt, he left three separate times for an issue with a different patient. It seemed like he didn't know what to do with me and didn't care at all about my situation. DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR.

I took my 12 year old son to see Dr. George for an issue with his knee. When Dr. George had to remove fluid from my son's knee and administer a cortizone shot, he did so in the best way possible. My son was incredibly stressed out prior to our visit with Dr. George as his past experience with removing fluid and cortisone shots was terribly painful. However, Dr. George's process is much less painful and my son felt almost nothing. I also found him to be very personable and will go to him if ever we need his assistance.

Saved 16 yr old Son from Hip Replacement
My Wife fought Doctor after Doctor to find out what was wrong with our usually active Son, who’s movement dwindled over a years time and we were finally referred to Dr. George. Once there, we learned that Not Marker Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis has typically already been the cause of Hip Replacement Surgery before he is seen, but Thanks to him and his diagnosis, our Son has recovered from taking Humara for the last 6 years and is no down to 1 shot a month, with the possibility of getting of it soon. Our Active Son is more than active now as an Adult, thanks to Dr. George and Doctors at Sinai who referred us to him. I do believe that many 1 Star reviews are far too low just because he is not personable. I’ll take a non personable Expert Doctor over a know nothing Polite Doctor every time.

Not a good fit
Have been seeing Dr George for the last year hoping things would improve but unfortunately they have not. This physician lacks people skills and has no compassion for those he treats. He does not engage with you. He spend the entire time sitting in front of the computer typing instead of looking at you as you are trying to talk with him.He never asks how are you doing or how are you feeling since the last visit. He is rude and does not display any concern for the patient. He lacks the basic skills taught in med school 101 ( the ability to communicate). Any time you send an email or call he acts as if you are infringing on his time. He does not respond to your first message, it usually takes 3 or 4 messages to get him to respond if at all. Am very disappointed that I have not improved with his care, I have actually gotten worse. As soon as I can find another rheumatologist I will be saying good bye to him. He only provides cookie cutter medicine and not individualized care.

Dr. George did not listen to me and he was condescending and arrogant during my visit. Afterward my primary care physician told me that Dr. George advised him he does not do well with patients that have psychiatric illnesses. Never has it been suggested or diagnose that I have a psychiatric illness. My primary care physician described Dr. George's comments as inappropriate and unprofessional. I will never visit or recommend this troubled man.

Dr. George is the BEST pediatric rheumatologist! If your child has JRA and you want complete care, straight talk and decades of experience, please choose Dr. George. Dr. George is direct with parents and gentle with children. I appreciate that he mentors medical students and advocates for pediatricians to learn more about JRA and rheumatology. We drove 45 minutes out of DC for his practice, and have recommended him to friends several times since.

He needs a 10 STAR!!!! He really is the best. My daughter started seeing him in 9th grade and from the beginning he was amazing and checked out each joint . Listened and asked questions. fast forward to this year, her 2nd year in college he just proved why he is the best ever!!! She goes to college in TENN. and was having knee pain and knew it needed to be drained. she had a rheumy in tenn to simply be able to get her infusions, so she went there to be treated. That dr was completely incompetent . he couldn't drain it...... She drove 10 hours home just to see DR George because she knew he would be able to help her . He drained a crazy amount of fluid off her knees ( which HE could have done with his eyes closed). He is so knowledgeable and thoughtful in his treatment process and plan. He breaks things down for you to understand and is very patient. He does a thorough joint exam each visit which is great and documents everything. The staff is amazing as well.

Top doc of the year? You have got to be kidding. I may be the only patient he ever turned away. Oh, wait...no. He also turned away my 12 year old son. So I disagree with majority opinion. I've been sick for 3 years. So sick my hair is falling out for the second time. I have all of the signs and strange results on labs. For nearly 2 years he dismissed lab results and symptoms as being due to my meds. (Guilty for self treating before getting in to see him - good thing or I'd be dead by now). He drew more than 50 tubes - checking and rechecking for autoimmune disease (ADAPTIVE immune system). Turns out I have IgG deficiency. And CAEBV (high DNA copies; no cure). And a PIK3CD mutation. Turns out there's a whole other side of the immune system - the INNATE immune system(who knew!) that causes AUTOINFLAMMATORY disorders. And there are immune DEFICIENCY disorders (who knew!). He missed it all. (If you're a really good doctor laughing at this, please email me).

It is very rare that I complete a review; however, my experience with Dr. George and his staff was one of the best I have had with any doctor. He took the time to listen to my concerns, history, and examined each affected joint and then gave me a diagnosis, which no other doctor had been able to do until now. The swelling has already reduced in my fingers after months of being very swollen. Other doctors just took a cursory look at my hand prescribed medication, but not Dr. George!!!

I have never met a doctor that has more skill or more compassion for his patients as Dr. George. I love his expertise and love how he treats his patients. My mother was his patient before me. When she was in the hospital I went to visit & Dr. George was there checking on her. He saw my hands and said, “ I could help you.” That was in the 90’s. I see him regularly as my primary dr. A lot of specialists seen my mother & didn’t know what was wrong. Called Dr. George & he knew the problem & helped.

I have been a patient of Dr. George for over 10 years. He has treated our daughter for Lyme and me for tendonitis/arthritis. He is simply the best! While other doctors may rush you out the door, he is incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate. He takes his time with every patient- getting to know them & to diagnose tough rheumatoid issues, presumably quite a challenge. I wouldn't go to another rheumatologist & wouldn't hesitate to refer friends and family to this gentle, yet aggressive, doctor

My daughter was a patient of Dr. George for almost 3 years. Other than prescribing Naproxen for her JIA he did very little to help my daughter even in areas where I kept addressing concern. He completely overlooked a major sign of JIA which is TMJ, Jaw joint erosion. By the time her oral surgeon discovered it (which she noticed right away when she walked in the room) and confirmed with X-rays for her wisdom teeth extraction, she was already at stage 3 which requires surgery. Will never go back.

Dr. George is amazing. He is currently treating our 3 year old daughter with JIA (Juvenile Idopathic Arthritis). He is very patient with her and makes her as comfortable as possible while we are there. He takes time to answer all questions and explain the disease to us. Also, he is very adamant about what needs to be done as far as treatment, tests and follow up. Nothing is able to slip through the cracks.
