Dr. Sridhar Durbhakula, MD

Both my wife and I had hip replacements with Dr. Durbhakula. He's busy and professional, running an efficient program at Suburban Hospital. He'll do your surgery, but don't count on him sticking around if trouble develops. My experience was fine, but my wife's replacement developed an infection. Durbhakula punted her to a less-busy colleague in the OrthoBethesda proctice, and ghosted her afterward. We tried to keep him involved but he didn't respond. After two disastrous revisions, we switched to Georgetown. Going on a year later, she's still not walking. We're more than disappointed.

Not consistant. I have encountered many people, including myself, who have had major issues or revisions from his carelessness (hip & knee). There are far better surgeons in our area.

Dr. Durbhakula did fantastic work replacing my hip with the direct anterior approach using the Hana table at Suburban Hospital. Since my surgery at age 61, I've earned a fourth degree black belt in Okinawan Karate. Seeing no problems at age 65 and I continue to practice Karate. I could barely walk before my operation. My strength and range of motion has returned to normal - maybe even better. I couldn't imagine a better outcome to the surgery Dr. Durbhakula performed on my hip.

I highly recommend Dr Durbhakula. He always listens and responds to your health complaints. He’s provided the correct treatment for me from the first visit. I’m feeling so much better and able to move much better under his care.

Dr. D and his team did a fabulous job with my knee. I had a robotic knee replacement and I was home just hours later. By two weeks I was off the cane and medications. Now I’m back to hiking and walking 18 holes of golf. This was an outstanding experience and I’ve been to a lot of physicians over the years. -DF

I've seen Dr. Durbhakula two times this year for treatment of my knee due to lack of meniscus tissue. He is very thorough in his explanation of the problem and protocols for treatment, even offering alternative solutions. He didn't rush either appointment despite his heavy case load. I am so grateful to have found him & OrthoBethesda.

I just love my new knee. The doctor was aswsome in assessing how I would respond to surgery, and the progress was fantastic. My knee was 100 percent in 4 months. Igo each year just to make sure I havn't broken anything up because my life is so active at 65. And in general, he's great to interact with, he's a realist, and just charming as can be!

Dr. Durbhakula is an amazing person. He is also an amazing doctor. He has helped our family for years. He has operated on both my parents and my husband. He is a top notch joint replacement surgeon. Trust me I have seen a lot of doctors. Nobody betas Dr. Durbhakula. I recommend him for any hip or knee problems you might have.

Dr. D did just an amazing job on my robotic partial knee replacement surgery. I could not be happier with my outcome. I have no pain and I am back to hiking, tennis and skiing. Job well done to Dr. D and his awesome team over at OrthoBethesda! I am recommending you to anyone with knee problems.

Dr. Durbhakula is an excellent and through doctor. He always takes extra time to explain everything so clearly. His bedside manner is awesome! He revised one knee done by another surgeon and then he did my other knee robotically. With the robotic surgery, I went home the same day! I couldn’t be happier with my outcomes. Great doctor, great team and great surgery! I give him a perfect rating! And I love the practice. They are all great doctors.

Find someone other than Dr. Durbhakula to operate on you. The knee replacement he did on me had to be redone by another doctor who specializes in fixing what other doctors get wrong. My knee replacement parts were too large and misaligned. Consequently, I had terrible pain for 8 months. Dr. D. didn’t listen to my complaints of pain; he didn’t believe me. At one point, he even told me he didn’t know what to do. I knew what to do. Get a second opinion. That resulted in my revision surgery which immediately eliminated all of the pain I had endured for so long. Dr. D. shouldn’t have overlooked or ignored all the red flags during my recuperation that there was a serious problem. It sure made for a tremendously long and hard eight months. I cannot recommend Dr. Durbhakula. I give him 1 star for being so nice when I first met him. Otherwise, it would be zero stars.

Absolutely HAVE already done so many times!!

I would definitely recommend Dr. D. He has been treating my bone on bone knee so far with gel injections. He is very honest, caring and explains things very well. I have such great confidence in him. If I have to get a knee replacement I have the most utmost confidence in him.

Preparation plus a terrific surgeon leads to an amazing outcome.

Dr. Durbhakula is extremely skilled and knowledgeable. He replaced my incredibly painful hip, which has been wonderful 3+ yrs. He also treated a broken kneecap conservatively, determining that the shattered pieces were aligned so it did not need surgery as long as it was immobilized during healing. That worked well. I only wish that he'd warned me that since I decided against having him withdraw the blood, it would drain down to my shin area and be extremely painful. (But it was my choice.)

I had a nightmare knee surgery in February 2015. A year later my knee hurt more than before the surgery. Thankfully, a friend sent me to Dr. Durbhakula who told me, very regretfully, that I would have to repeat the surgery. Since the pain was unbearable I agreed despite grave concerns because of my past experience. However he did a fantastic job and my knee is now in very good shape. He was great on every front --professionally and personally. I recommend him highly.

Explained the outcome of a total hip replacement.

He misdiagnosed a torn hamstring as bursitis. Didnt even reccomend an MRI. After 9 painful months went to a new doctor, got an MRI and treated the tear. Fully recovered now.
