Dr. Soumyadipta Hazra, MD

Late by at least 10 minutes to appointments without fail. Sessions are performed perfunctorily and end within 15 minutes of face-to-face time, even in the intake session. Follow up sessions were 5 minutes or shorter. Schedules follow ups at a time and date of her choosing. When I asked for another time for the follow up and gave several suggested times, I was given a prompt by the Teladoc messages section that she could not make any of those times (and wouldn't give suggested new times), and that I should seek a consult with a new psychiatrist. Thinking this might've been a mistake, I scheduled a new appointment with her that was selected from her open slots on Teladoc. Again, I got a 'Soumyadipta Hazra could not accept your request for a Mental Health visit on (date and time), but you can schedule a visit with a different provider. Thank you' message. Very bizarre and unreliable behavior. I hope no one in a vulnerable position is seeing this doctor.

She was nearly 15 minutes late to our first virtual visit, but I let it slide because things happen, right? On our next visit, I was about to set up for the meeting and she was already blowing up my phone over and over. Had our visit and scheduled a follow up (that she selected the date and time for every time and gave me no input.) Any time she was early she was immediately calling me but if I was on time and she wasn’t early, she was no less than 10 minutes late. Barely listens, tosses a rx at you and is gone. Impossible to reach when the pharmacy needs authorizations. Very recently, she was non-responsive to the pharmacy and I had no way to reach out since Teladoc only allows you messages within 7 days of your visit so I asked my primary for help. She has since cancelled our follow up and it looks as if I may be blocked like the other reviewer. What’s going on with her??

I found Dr. Hazra to be rather quick to jump to conclusions before really listening to what I had to say, and backpedaling once she actually heard me out. That probably should have been a bit of a red flag for me, but I continued with her for another (online) visit. Long story short, I did miss appointments with Dr. Hazra. Two of them to be exact (and that wouldn't have been the case if it had been mentioned that I missed an appointment during my second session with Dr. Hazra). Dr. Hazra was scheduling follow up appointments without my realizing it. I suppose with the assumption that I knew what I was doing. I was a new patient (as she was aware), new to the online platform, I'm older, and not incredibly computer savvy. I wasn't intentionally missing appointments. I'd planned on scheduling my own follow ups (which was an option). I do completely understand that my lack of knowledge was no excuse to miss appointments, and I feel terrible about doing so. I know that Dr. Hazra's time is valuable, and by missing those appointments I was cutting into that valuable time. That said, rather than taking a different route and reaching out, Dr. Hazra chose to block me from the ability to schedule an appointment with her. That doesn't sound too terrible, I know. As a matter of fact, it's probably rather commonplace to take those types of actions when a patient misses appointments. My only real complaint is that I was dropped without any notice. I was simply blocked from making appointments. Again, that would not be a huge deal, other than the fact that these appointments were to help with uncontrolled depression and anxiety, and included the use of medication. Cold. Fortunately I've moved on to another doc that I'm very happy with. One who really listens, and makes it a point to make sure I understand what I'm dealing with. A doc who took the time (approx. one minute) to make sure I knew how to use the online system. The thought that someone fighting depression may potentially find themselves in the same situation with Dr. Hazra as I did really bothers me. Nothing like being rejected by the one you've reached out to for help.
