Dr. Soojong Chae, MD

I was looking to transfer my care to a new gastroenterologist which is why I saw Dr. Chae. I have a neurological condition and autoimmune disease which both cause chronic GI issues. I'm currently symptomatic of pancreatitis which is a complication of the autoimmune issue I have. I also have recurring methane SIBO due to chronic constipation as confirmed by lactulose breath tests. Dr. Chae ignored my medical history and said 'Everyone experiences bloating and I think you just have IBS. We don't need to test for SIBO or pancreatitis, and you should take a psychotropic medication for the gas pain.'Do not recommend unless you like feeling ignored.

Dr. Chae does not act like she cares about the patient. One of the worst doctors I have ever experienced, she doesn't even seem that experienced. Because I had one condition she did not even weigh in other options for what could also be wrong, but guess what, she was wrong. I also have to get a procedure and will not be getting it for two more months! She has the interns do all the work for her and they barely even know what they're talking about. If I could do half a star I would. I have been figuring out my disease on my own because she doesn't care enough to do her job correctly.

Dr Chae is nice enough, very distracted when she met with me, a few times looking at her phone. Always sent in an intern first and then would come in at the end of visit for a few minutes and ask a few questions without really looking at me or paying attention. Also, never remembered me, I had been seeing her a for few years, every visit was like a new patient to her. Was also impossible to get a person on the phone or get a call back. Would end up in an endless loop with an automated attendant

really appreciated her patience with me. Walked in worried, walked out much more at ease. Glad to have found a new GI.

Dr. Chae diagnosed me with gastroparesis in June 2017 after a swallow test. My follow up appointment was in August and when I went to that appointment was then told I don't have gastroparesis but I have achalasia. She then sent me for a test that day (July 10th) and I was told to call office to get results. I have called every day since the 14th and some days twice and no one has returned my call. Also the other test she wanted me to have never got ordered until after I called several times.

Dr. Chae has been thorough and informative in our visits. She listens and never makes me feel rushed. Sometimes she can be abrupt but not to the point of rudeness. The staff is always kind and considerate when I've dealt with them on every occasion.
