Put a tube in my moms eye 2 months ago for glaucoma. Really spent a lot of time explaining all the options to us before surgery. My mom had a list of questions and she was very patient with her. Dr Dhar saw us after surgery to make sure my mom healed perfectly. She seems very meticulous. My mom is still seeing great and doesn’t need drops for her pressure any more .No one could have taken better care of my mom, I’m so thankful that her surgery was a success.

Worst ophthalmologist in NY. If I could give 0 stars I would. She Canceled our appointments for months. She had me wait literally for 6 months while stalling and giving lame excuses all the while my cataract grew and became worse and worse. Then she told me 6 months later that she’s too busy and is traveling to do the surgery and she will recommend another doctor. Stay away from Sonya Dhar. Very unprofessional and very rude. Also if you have the unfortunate experience of talking to the receptionist Carmen be ready for the rudest and uneducated receptionist ever. She will lie to you, she will downplay your problem and talk in the most condescending tone ever. Worst experience ever with these unprofessional people. There’s loads of better doctors and people who will actually help you out here in NYC

Dr Dhar examined me during an evaluation about complications of a cataract removal (she was not directly involved with the surgery). She was very professional and gave opinions which were clearly respected by other specialist physicians present. My sense is that she is extremely knowledgeable and competent.
