Excellent GHD doctor
Listens to concerns and responds to test results and symptoms. Educates patients on all medication options to respond to medical needs and is balanced between following tried and true protocols and newer treatment options. Talks to my daughter like an intelligent person capable of understanding medical terms and answers her questions about her medical concerns directly rather than referring only to the parent.

Dr. Shapiro is extremely entrenched in out dated protocols. She failed to properly monitor my daughter’s under active thyroid which resulted in over six months of weight gain, memory difficulties and sleep issues. Dr. Shapiro never returned my phone calls. She was placed on thyroid medicine by another doctor and is all better. Subsequently, my daughter lost the weight she gained.

This doctor is old school and only looks at tests not symptoms. I specifically asked for Free T3 tests--she didn't do it! She did total t4 ( not as accurate) Said it is inconsistent-- This is very outdated thought and information on thyroid health.patient T4 and t3 were low normal and was very symptomatic. She said his thyroid is fine. I doubt she prescribes NDT; Find a different thyroid doc that is more up to date and treats symptoms and looks at all tests. Very frustrating.
