Dr. Shital Mehta, MD

Dr Mehta is rude and disrespectful. She assumes without speaking to the patient. She speaks and will not allow the patient to speak and does interrupt the conversation when patient does try. She dismisses the patient with the medical plan for the patient without hearing or discussing anything. She readily comes up with diagnoses for the patient after a 15 minute one-sided conversation and will not recognize that there are other aspects to consider because she has already made her assumptions to be correct. She is a scary presentation of a doctor especially one in her field. Do not see this doctor. Do your homework and find a reputable, knowledgeable and caring doctor who will treat a patient within the confines of medical knowledge and experience.

TX program was knocking me down mentally more. Dr refuses to continue medication regimen due to her beliefs. Was taking me off meds cold turkey

I have seen Dr Mehta 2x now. The office staff is capable and kind, and does a good job navigating insurance, so you know your costs up front. The office is busy but runs smoothly, I've only waited 15-30 minutes past my appointment time. I consider that reasonable, especially for an afternoon appointment. I think the key to a successful psychiatric appointment is to go in prepared. I brought a list of symptoms and concerns, and tried really hard to disregard my apprehension, remembering that doctors are there because they want to help us. That said, I found Dr. Mehta to be kind and thorough. She thoughtfully addressed my questions, and made me feel like we could work together for solutions. I feel fortunate to have quality care close to home.

Dr. Mehta's staff was very kind and understanding. She did a fantastic job explaining things to me and helping me to evaluate options.

Took my 17 yr old daughter to her for depression & self harm. First questions Dr. Mehta asked were about drinking and drugs. My daughter was very anxious & scared to begin with, I was lucky to get her there. I am a psych & CD RN & knew how to approach those concerns, which weren’t an issue. I was in the room & could feel attacked myself. I had to intervene. My daughter never felt comfortable with her b/c the way she spoke to her. One star seems like too much credit for Dr Mehta. This woman is wicked and unprofessional. She makes assumptions the second you walk through the door and won't listen to a word you say. Me and everyone I know who has had the misfortune of seeing her, never came back after the first appointment. There are so many worthy doctors in kankakee county. Don't waste your time and money visiting this woman.

Will not go back to her and very upset that I wasted my week and $$ driving home to see her. She does not listen. I live 3 hours away from the office. On crappy insurance I paid $300 for. She charged me $180(after insurance for 5 minutes with her). She wanted to enroll me in a program that costs more money and never discussed or talked about any of my issues. Long wait in waiting room 1hr+ when I could over hear colleges having personal conversations this did not make me feel like my time was appreciated or valued.
