Dr. Sostre-Oquendo was easy to talk you, provided insight, and offered creative yet practical coping strategies to my son. Very pleased that we found her.

I've been a patient for several years. Dr. Sostre is great. I feel she has definitely helped me tremendously. She's very knowledgeable about medication.

My visit was horrible as she was aggressive in getting me to open up about my trauma and then proceeded to say that I was "playing the victim" for explaining that I was sexually assaulted as a minor. She then diagnosed me incorrectly and prescribed the wrong medication with long lasting negative side effects. (I received three other professional opinions afterwards, they all stated separately that she was completely incorrect) She had a bad attitude throughout the duration of the visit and was entirely insensitive, inflammatory, rude, and unprofessional. I sincerely hope her licence gets revoked as she is clearly unfit to be working with vulnerable/ at risk individuals. I suspect she lacks empathy and is heavily influenced by the potential for repeat business and paid incentives by pharmaceutical companies when diagnosing patients. In conclusion, if you are looking for a professional to help you, please look elsewhere.

My child has been going to Dr Oquendo for about 3-4 years. We've seen many doctors, and quite a few psychiatrists. She is the best psych doctor I've ever been to. She takes her time getting to know her patient and their caretaker/parent before writing a prescription out. I have full trust she knows my child well enough for a valid opinion. Never feel rushed or blown off, which is common during a psychiatric appointment. Highly recommend her.

My husband was treated by Dr. Shirley Sostre Oquendo in the past and she was absolutely wonderful. She was extremely knowledgeable, professional, caring, and her treatment was effective. I would definitely recommend her and will be seeking her professional help once more with my son. We are looking forward to seeing her again and are very hopeful she will help us.

No, she is not cold. She absolutely cares. But she calls BS when she sees it, and is perfectly straightforward with the patient. Doesn't coddle, doesn't mess around. Dr. Sostre is the best psydoc I've had and she really knows what she's talking about. She understands the nuances of mental health as a topic, knows medication and diagnoses like the back of her hand, and uses all of her knowledge and experience to give you the most real, honest, and effective treatment you'll find in the area.

She was direct to the point of being extremely rude and insulting. She kept interrupting as well. Will not return.

I waited 25 minutes to see her and she spent 30 minutes with me for a first time visit. Kept interrupting me when I was speaking. This doctor was very cold and not caring at all. I will not be going back
