Dr. Shilpa Kumar, MD

Very professional, great bedside manner, ease to communicate with, like her so much I referred my wife to her.

Dr. Kumar addressed my needs for the visit in a very detailed manner. Could not ask any more of her. I was so satisfied with her that I also made her my primary physician and my wife's.

Dr. Shilpa Kumar is a horrible doctor. She was covering for my PCP when I went to see her complaining of blood in my urine in September 2019. She thought it was the result of a kidney stone (which I’ve never had) and told me not to worry about it. Fast forward to January 2020 when my PCP recommended I see a Urologist who diagnosed me with Bladder Cancer!! Thank god I kept pursuing this and didn’t take the word of Dr. Kumar. I had successful surgery in February 2020 just before hospitals shut down OR’s due to Covid-19. Dr. Kumar shouldn’t be able to practice medicine.

Not felt cared for. It was especially evident when I was exposed to Covid early last year. I had symptoms such as lost of taste, exhaustion, muscle aches, and I was told I was not eligible for the test. Even after several requests. I was sick for several weeks but not sick enough to go to the ER. I was told to isolate but never given the test. The times I did come in, I was rushed and never really looked in the eye. The computer screen seemed to be the one that got the exam. I was sorry that I had chosen her after my primary left her practice. Last year her patients got a letter stating she was leaving. We were left looking for another primary. Then she said never mind, now a year later we got the letter again. It was not a very nice experience.

Doctor Shilpa Kumar Is kind,intelligent,compassionate. she is one of the best people i know.I fell relaxed with her. She is easy to talk with She makes you fell cared for. She is the best doctor. I would highly recommend her. And her staff is great.

I have been a patient of Dr. Kumar's for several years. I find her to be professional, kind, skilled and thorough. She identified a precancerous growth on my skin that had been there for years without comment from any other doctor. She was also able to diagnose a debilitating condition that I had been living with for over 2 decades that no other doctor was able to name or treat. When I've requested blood work, she is always quick to approve it and send me the results with her comments. She is supportive of lifestyle changes to improve baseline test results and is not immediately insistent on prescribing meds. I have recommended Dr. Kumar to many of my friends and clients. All have been very pleased. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Gave MGH primary care a try. Big mistake! Saw Dr Shilpa Kumar. First, I was rushed into the room by a nurse muttering something about staying on time. I know that my case is a complicated one, so this was the first red flag. Second, I told the Dr I had been coughing for 3 weeks, felt like I had a consolidation in my chest, felt short of breath, taking otc meds, and coughing. Never listened to my lungs or did chest xray. Turns out I had a chest infection, but how would she know?

I had passed out the day before felt it was necessary to contact my doctor for a follow up visit to make sure there were no underlying health issues. I scheduled a next day appt. I showed up and apparently my appt was slotted 15 min. earlier. Dr. Kumar still refused to see me b/c I was 15 min late.. To be treated so poorly by my own doctor is unforgivable. Dr Kumar is nothing special anyway. My suggestion: DON"T SETTLE, fInd another PC.P, I have since switched and couldn't be more happy!!

Worst primary care doctor! She is not knowledgeable at all and does not care about her patients! With the few visits I had with her, this is what she does: - makes them wait for more than an hour for each visit - refuses to do blood work because she's concerned patients will have questions when the numbers are off - refuses to do full exam in one visit and insists on two visits for annual check up to maximize her $$$ - refuses to see patients when they are 5 mins late and poor attitude

Lack of interest in investigating health issues, did not spend any requested time with patient. Appeared to have limited relationships with specialists.

Love her! She is willing to learn about things she does not understand and she is always great with helping get things done.
