In 2017 my wife was having trouble with, what we thought to be, her medication. She could not sleep because of the pain and no amount of Excedrin or any other migraine medication seemed to help. She also suffered from fatigue (of course), as well as joint pain, depression, and unexplained weight gain. We were referred to Kamel and after filling out forms on which we listed her medical conditions, medication and doses, and other background information, this "specialist" put her through a few physical exams, asked a few questions which were similar to the questionnaire we filled out. He said that she suffered from hyperthyroid. I questioned this as she did not show the signs of hyperthyroid, but he, in eloquent and derogatory terms, told me that he was certain and had "seen it many times before" and that she "showed all the symptoms of one who suffered from hyperthyroid" and he had the blood test results that indicated such. Since I'm not doctor, nor did I have the blood test results, my wife trusted him and agreed to Radioactive Iodine treatment. A week later, her symptoms persisted and actually got worse, this time adding a new symptom - weight gain. After going back to the Kamel, he determined to give her different treatments for hyperthyroid. We refused and left. We then went to my wife's psychologist for her regular checkup (my wife has PTSD) and we told the psychologist all about the debacle with the endocrinologist. The psychologist asked several questions that no one had asked before and determined that it was my wife's physiological reaction to bipolar medication. After a week off of the medication, my wife's migraines disappeared, but now she suffered from joint pain, depression, severe weight gain, and chronic fatigue - all signs of hypothyroidism! Yes, the RAI was not only the wrong solution to a problem, but had put her into a hypothyroid state because Kamel doesn't understand medicine!!!!!!! She's now permanently dependent on thyroid medication, but can't get the medication because getting the meds from big pharma is harder than pulling teeth! "Dr." Kamel destroyed my wife's life!!!!

Patients are like cattle
I was a patient at the Kissimmee/Orlando office for 4 years. In that time, they could never keep staff. I saw over 3 medical providers in 4 years. Every time they changed providers, they wanted to change my medicine to the company or vendor of their choice, even for the same items. I told them that I did not want to change where I get my medical supplies because I don’t want to pay more or have to get new approvals from my insurance company, so keep it the same. They changed it anyway, their new provider did not have the supplies I needed, so it had to be changed back, but all new approvals were needed. The staff does not regularly answer the phone, so the vendor, my insurance company, nor I could reach them by phone. When I went to the office, the office manager was willing to fix the problem, but a Medical Assistant lied, this Dr. without any information made the decision that the asst was right and the patient wrong. He never listened to me as a patient anyway. It is a blessing.

Nice guy, too many patients to practice good care
My experience was not good while being seen here. I will start by saying that the doctor himself was kind (when he actually saw me) but his course of action on treating my thyroid cancer was not the most effective way, and I could have been spared quite a miserable experience I later found out. Not only did Dr Kamal not do a physical on me at all before referring me to get a thyroidectomy, but during my RAI (radiation) treatment I had several questions and could not get ANYONE to call me back! It was a very scary experience! His office is completely overbooked and it’s impossible to speak with anyone. Even my surgeon tried to contact him after surgery to talk over the pathology report and couldn’t get through to him for days. Once I had an appt and was running 10 min late (b/c the office moved) and when I checked in I was told that he just left because he didn’t think I was coming. Who does that? So, I’d say nice guy, way too many patients to take good care of them.

"I have been a patient of Dr. Kamel's for about a year now for my diabetes. I've only seen Dr. Kamel, however at my last appointment, I was seen by his Nurse Practitioner, Ashley. She was very nice and professional. When she reviewed my blood sugar logs, she told me that we were doing a great job. My blood levels went from a 10% to 7%. I am very pleased to say that my diabetes is under control. Thanks to them."

I have been a patient at the Institute of Endocrinology for a long time. I get very surprised if I read anything negative about them . I have nothing but positive things to say. The wait time is reasonable and actually much better than most of the other practices I go to for specialists in that caliber. Most importantly , I am seeing a highly qualified specialist with best care and wonderful bedside manner. When I get a medical advice , I know it is for my benefit coming from an expert

Sat in an examination room for 2 hours and ended up leaving without being seen by the doctor. I had previous concerns about the doctor's practice due to the long list of additional services they are peddling to their patients. If you go to their in-house gym for $100/month, they offer mild-narcotics to lose weight. You can get Botox, a massage, have your prescription filled, blood work performed, go to gym, get diet pills and get an eye exam. Unfortunately, I couldn't get thyroid care.

Making an appointment is a challenge. The office staff doesn't return messages. On my 4th call, I got someone on the phone and made an appointment. No one ever returned my calls. I waited in the waiting room for 30 minutes, and another 20 in the exam room. The doctor talked to me for all of 2 minutes and had very little interest in what I had to say. Then I waited another 30 minutes for the nurse to come in and verify my prescription information. My prescription still hasn't been called in.

I was reffered to Dr. Kamel by my primary. When I arrived I was impressed by the beautiful clinic . From the front desk to the nurses every one treated me very well with a big smile. It was a busy day but I understand they take care of many patients . My father goes there and my cousin goes there as well. They have done very well for my diabetic father. He used to always have a terrible sugar . Now he is much better . My cousin is using their weight loss program and have lost a lot of weight .

I made an appt. requesting to see a Board certified Dr. of Endocrine medicine. . I arrived on time at 8 Am and waited in a not properly cleaned room. There is splatters of sanitizer on the wall, there were a small old desk w/fingerprints that were caked on. I waited with the door closed for over 45 minutes while I listened to the people working in the office chat away about their lives while I sat there. Finally a nurse practitioner talked with me for 10 minutes after I paid a @220.

Dr Kamel is good endocrinologist but his staff is slow and do not do what they say they will do. When I came in today, I had to wait because reception person (only 1) was on phone. There was no sign in sheet. I waited in doctors office quite awhile before he came in. Nurse was to come in and run tests but was slow. (understand I am extremely sick) so since she was slow and never came in I left office. I asked that my prescription be phoned into publix but when I got to publix it was not in.
