Lack of Empathy and No Active-Listening Skills
Felt like I had to fight to “get a word in edge wise” about my situation and conditions. He wanted me to give “simple answers” to a very complex set of questions regarding a long and fairly complicated medical history. He became visibly rigid, clenching his jaw tightly and holding his eyes closed in frustration for three-seconds-straight on multiple occasions. I had to inform him that I could tell he was becoming visibly frustrated with me, and inquire as to what his problem was. I thought you had to take a course on “bedside manner” in medical school. I guess he skipped that course; and decided to leave his empathy at home the day I saw him. I doubt my experience is isolated. I won’t be going back to this physician’s office ever again. If he worked in customer service, he would be fired for interacting with his customers this way. I feel bad for his kids having him as a father with those “active listening” skills. Hopefully they turn out with more empathy than he has.

I was diagnosed with Lupus over 25 yrs ago. Dr Ellis has performed 2 separate steroid shot injections to block nerves in my lower back. By no fault of his, those shots didn’t have much if any effect on my constant lower back pain. Today I am scheduled for a more comprehensive procedure I pray will be successful. I find Dr Ellis to be very professional & competent. His scheduling personnel & OR assistants are considerate & very proficient at their jobs. I will certainly recommend Mercy Pain Management to my friends & family.

Great Doctor and Great Staff
Dr. Ellis and his staff all took great care of me with my back issues. Everything was explained clearly, they went the extra mile to make sure I knew what was going on and that I understood the treatment plan.

Did excellent work on my “back”! He additionally, does follow up! I totally trusted his experience and professionalism! He is not much of a “talker or joker”, however; a great Dr.

A straight forward doctor that takes time to explain your options and allows you to make choices in your care. I would highly recommend Dr. Ellis as a pain management doctor. Excellent results from the treatments that I received.

Worse pain management doctor ever! I explained my problem and stated what medications I refuse to be on and his response was, lose weight and you won’t hurt so much. Really is that your professional opinion. He wanted to put me on a medication that has serious side effects and you can not be taken off of. This man is a QUACK!

Absolutely TERRIBLE support staff. They do not communicate with you, return phone calls, etc. I ended up missing having my facet injections done because they screwed up the scheduling and couldn’t communicate with me or my insurance. Now it is too late in the year to get me in because Dr. Ellis is booked and January 1 my insurance “resets” and instead of being free before 1/1 it’ll cost me thousands I cannot afford. So now I suffer because I cannot afford the procedure.

I Love Dr.Ellis!!! He gives you more options such as injections, ablations, instead of just jumping into surgery. Dr. Ellis is such a caring doctor who doesn't take people lying to him. Happy

Pushes 3 things on you: Injections Injections Injections Poor communication skills. Wanted me to stop taking medications that other Dr.s had prescribed and I have been on for years without consulting them. Pushes a horrible and worthless tins unit from a company his office works with that is highly expensive (over $1000.00) but won't write a prescription for any other units (even much less expensive units). Should reevaluate what profession he should pursue (sales or medicine!!)

He seemed primarily concerned with sticking needles in my back every month. I'm not sure he gets the whole picture. He does not seem to be willing to work with doctors outside of his hospital network. I had an MRI from another hospital he refused to look at.
