Dr. Shanthi Thangam, MD

The doctor is a nice lady; however, it is the most inefficient run practice I have ever seen and I worked in the private practice sector of medicine for 30 years. Your appointment is never when scheduled. You sign in and keep dropping by to see how much longer, often being rescheduled. Twice in six months I have shown up for my monthly appointment only to be told the doctor is out of town. No courtesy call to reschedule me. Then I have all kinds of problems getting my refills because my appointments aren’t up to date because they can’t find a time to get me worked in until the next month. Speaking of refills! She always says they are sent to the pharmacy. Only one time in my six months as her patient was that accurate. Every other time was a battle. Calling to resolve the problem was up to a two hour on hold phone call. And usually took 3 to 5 calls to resolve. I read alot if reviews. All in All Dr. Thangam really does care. I just lost my mother in law unexpectedly late last month. Dr. Thangam zoomed me that evening, and calmed me down. She's always there when I I need someone to talk to. She has MANY patients and she listens, so yes it takes time. Every patient is different. I've waited several hours before, but I knew I'd get the help I cant get elsewhere here in Odessa. We must appreciate the small things in life. It may be frustrating, but in my opinion I walk out much happier.

She’s nice when she wants to be. Same thing with the staff. Don’t expect anyone to answer when you call it’s pointless.

They set an appointment and then you wait... hours says de wasn’t on time.. So that means my time doesn’t matter to her..

I had a great visit. Very helpful staff. Dr. Thangam is an excellent psychiatrist.

Office is always hot especially in the summer, the waiting area chairs are nasty. When calling the office no one answers and when you leave a message no one calls you back. Never a full staff only 2 ppl working. The wait time is about 3 hours

I have been seeing Dr. Thangum for several years. Every single appointment has always involved a 2-3 hour wait for a ten-minute appointment. Recently, the office staff has stopped answering the phone regularly. It is impossible to make appointments or get refills for medication. The office staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. Dr. Thangum will listen to you and attempt to help you, but honestly is just not worth the hassle.

I have been with her for years,she makes me feel like family,she hugs me when I walk in with a huge smile,allways asks about my family,her office staff I love,they treat me awesome.i don’t know what I would do without her,she gives me hope for sure.....

Dr thagham was supposed to call me on my cell concerning about lithum induced diabetes insidious waited and waited for her call never called the receptionist lefted messages but nothing happened very disgusted

Long wait time, tried to institutionalize me. Had two other medical professionals evaluate and determine I didn't need to be institutionalized the same day. She made me feel crazy and scared me. Did not help my anxiety at all.

She does NOT listen to parent concerns and even when her patient is old enough to speak for themselves, she asks the parent the questions and doesn’t even acknowledge the child/adolescent she is SUPPOSE to be treating!!!!

Don’t even bother coming here. The wait is at least two hours EVERY. TIME. It doesn’t even matter if you are her first appointment in the morning - she gets there late anyway, and youll still have to wait longer than an hour. Plus, the waiting room is uncomfortable and often dirty. The doctor herself is nice, but she’s unclear on instructions and I don’t feel that I have been given actual tools to utilize outside of her office. Save yourself hours of frustration and find another doctor.

I moved to the area a couple years ago and searched high and low for a great doctor and I found I think with Dr.Thangam she's very attentive, she work so our times to meet with me around My kids hectic schedules sometimes on sat or sun. The office staff is super friendly and very helpful! I recommend them to everyone!

HOW can it be OK to make mental patients (or any paying patient) wait for over 2 hours EVERY TIME they come!!!

When I left her office I had no clue as to what she wanted me to do. She wanted me to go for several kinds of testing but I left her office with only one referral. I asked her office staff and they would not go ask her. I will not be returning to her office. I'm all for the testing but I am not comfortable with a doctor who is not clear in their instruction. Yes, I asked her to repeat what she wanted me to do but there was still no clear answer.
