No common sense.
Told me autoimmune problems have nothing to do with back pain. Said the spur formation and facet arthropathy on my spine were just from being overweight even though my pain started before I gained weight. Don’t trust this dr, her arrogance clouds her judgment.

No empathy
This doctor has no empathy and compassion towards her patients. She is very rude and disrespectful. I am elderly and I have a lot of severe pain. When I talk to her, she talks down on me and just disregards my pain and suffering. She told me she only needs to see me once a year. She just keeps refilling my meds without even checking how I’m doing. Her description on her Kaiser page is the opposite of how she is. This is what her Kaiser page says: “My philosophy of care is to treat you with compassion, the way I would like to be treated. I will listen and educate you about your condition so that you can make an appropriate choice of care. I work closely with your primary care physician to take care of your rheumatologic condition” All lies! What a fake! She didn’t treat me with respect, compassion, she didn’t suggest a treatment plan and she refused to work with my primary care physician. If you’re looking for a good rheumatologist, please STAY AWAY from this one.

Dr Shanthi Giri: The worst doctor I’ve ever encountered. She is rude, disrespectful and cold. She refused to listen to my problems and concerns. I came to her in so much pain to the point that was unable to dress or bathe myself due to my arthritis. She said there is nothing she can do for my pain. She can only prescribe meds for inflammation. For pain, physical therapy and everything else, I have to go to my primary doctor. I’m so disappointed in the care I received from this doctor. She gave me no recommendations on how to manage my condition and no kind of treatment plan. She ended my visit by saying, “I only need to see you once a year.” I left her office in tears feeling so helpless and disrespected.

Dr. Giri is a Kaiser Permanente rheumatologist. When I transferred to Kaiser and Dr. Giri, she refused to receive or review the report/tests/diagnosis provided by my previous non-Kaiser rheumatologist. Giri performed an exam, ignored my history/tests/diagnosis, refused to hear my concerns and symptoms, and then proceeded to tell me that there was nothing wrong with me. She showed no respect for the medical opinion of my board-certfied rheumatologist, and spoke to me as if I were an idiot.

Do not agree with the 2 reviews. Dr. Giri was thorough, had several tests done to confirm diagnosis, explained each result of each test to eliminate all possibilities isolating the diagnosis, and provided a one year treatment printout. Excellent support, and easy to understand.

She did not listen to what I had to say, and when I told her about a kaiser program I was enrolled in, she flatly denied that kaiser had such a program, and when I found what the program was called, and told her about it, she was disrespectful and rude.

No empathy, lack of explanation to test results, does not like patient being own advocate and asking questions. Tried to work out my concerns but because I asked for 2nd opinion told her my fears and feelings but still wanted to work them out, she could not accept apology and told me to keep 2nd opinion doctor.
