Very dismissive
I found her to be extremely dismissive. Didn't take my symptoms seriously, and made me feel like I was wasting her time. She basically spent the brief time we were together telling me that I wasn't feeling the way I felt because she saw no evidence of it. Horrible experience. Won't see this doctor again.

Helpful doctor
I’ve seen Dr. Purcell a few times when my PCP wasn’t available and I’d recommend her. The other reviewers are right that she’s direct, but that’s ok - she’s nice and very smart. She always listens to my concerns and her advice has been spot on.

So disappointed
My OBGYN and regular doctor are both in this practice and I LOVE them both but hadn't been to my primary care in two years so while I was waiting for a new patient appointment I saw Dr. Purcell for an issue I was having. Unfortunately she was very dismissive, physically standoffish and down right rude to me during the appointment. Its a shame because this practice has so many amazing physicians and if this is the doctor you get its a complete turn off and not a representation of the rest. Needless to say i'll change practices before I am ever seen by her again. No one needs to see a doctor that makes them feel less than or like they don't know what is happening with their own bodies. Honestly she reminds me of the doctor in the Golden Girls episode when Dorothy learned she she had chronic fatigue syndrome.

I had a first visit with her and I was worried because of her ratings on this site. She was clear with her explanations, listened to my symptoms, and also looked up additional health resources for my situation based on where I live.

I am sad to confirm other reviewers' impressions. Even though I was polite and a bit anxious as I always am with medical providers, she was rude, intimidating, and dismissive. I asked some genuine and curious questions about my symptoms and she dismissed them flatly, or stated that they were irrelevant to my underlying problem. I can’t speak to her diagnostic skills, but if a physician doesn’t truly listen to the patient and is abrupt and dismissive, surely they will miss important things.

Very disappointed in her as a doctor. She is definitely not friendly or personable but that isn't a problem for me. My issue was that she misreported the time spent with me in the office and had me undergo unnecessary tests in order to list me at a higher billing code. At the end of the day she charged me $168 for 15 minutes of care and a piece of paper to get some antibiotics. I called and disputed and they lowered the level from a 4 to a 3, but I won't use her services again.

I'm honestly really shocked by the other reviews. I saw Dr. Purcell because my doctor didn't have openings anytime soon. I get what people are saying about her personality not being overly friendly... She was very much to the point. She was, however, incredibly knowledgeable, explained everything very thoroughly, addressed all of my concerns 110%, spent a lot of time with me... I would definitely recommend her as long as you don't mind that she's not overly smiley. She was nice and intelligent.

Dismissive and belittling of my concerns. If they try and schedule you with her because your doctor is unavailable... don't.

Dr. Purcell is one of the most unprofessional physicians I have ever had the misfortune of encountering and her misdiagnoses cause nothing but mental anguish and costly labs and procedures. If you care about your health, your loved ones' health, and your wallet, do NOT see Dr. Purcell.

Dr. Purcell is lacking the personality required to engage with patients. Her dismissive attitude is offensive and is in contrast to a productive patient Doctor exchange for the purpose of obtaining solutions. I've never experienced a doctor's visit like the one that took place yesterday. Misdiagnosis and additional costs due to her actions.

Definitely would not recommend Dr. Purcell. I'm sure she is a great provider but to represent Hopkins and the care that should be given to the patients were not quality. She was not friendly at all. Did not introduce herself and I wish I did not received care at this particular location with her. She may be a quick, easy provider for others but not for me. I like personable people who are interested in how I feel. I would rather someone act as if they care then not show any concern at all
