Dr. Nesterenko is the best. I had a lot of pain, numbness and tingling to my left leg. Dr Nesterenko did a fusion and had spacers inserted in my spine. After the surgery I was pain free. Before the surgery, I was limited to what I could do. Now I can enjoy life without pain and I have more energy than I've had in a long time. I feel blessed to have been referred to him. He is a compassionate doctor and his staff is awesome. Again, he is the best.

I am an ICU RN, and this surgeon is amazing!
I feel he gave me a thorough overview, and walked me through non surgical and surgical steps- he was not quick to jump to surgery. However when it was time he told me what to expect- that I might end up with pain elsewhere and that there was a 10 to 20 percent chance it would not work. That was an acceptable risk for me, but I am so glad I did. I feel like new. Both he and his team kept my wife completely informed of what happened in the procedure; and also were available after surgery on the phone(I live 2 hrs away). I used to only be neurosurgery for anything on the spine, but Dr Nestrenko is absolutely the first person I would recommend for any kind of issue that is spine related. He and his team are the absolute best!

Mr.
I went through fusion of L3-l4 on November 25 of 2025. It has been 8 weeks since surgery and I feel great compared to how I was before surgery. I am able to walk upright, I am independent already and I stopped pain medication at the 4 weeks mark. The week before surgery I was on a wheelchair and couldn’t walk anymore but I got on my feet the day after surgery and slow but steady I continue to gain strength and flexibility. I will continue to put myself in Dr Nesterinko care again with no hesitation.

Awesome Doctor and I am pain free!!!!
Dr. Nesterenko and his staff are all amazing. I had a freak accident and fell causing a herniated disc in my neck. As a former nurse, I checked around with some nurses and doctors I know, and they stated Dr. Nesterenko was a great spine surgeon. Dr. Nesterenko and his staff elected to try the least non-invasive treatments first. When we saw these treatments were not working, he elected to perform a single discectomy at C5-C6. Dr. Nesterenko spent a lot of time explaining the procedure and device he would replace my disc with and answering the numerous questions I had. The surgery was amazingly great and smooth. I did not have one bit of pain afterwards. I do not regret a second having the surgery. I am pain free. I can not say enough about him, his PA’s and nurses. I would recommend him to anyone.

Relief from left leg pain
After eight months of pain in my left leg when standing or walking, Dr. Nesterenko investigated the problem with many tests to determine that I had a pinched nerve in my back. With out-patient surgery, he corrected the problem. Upon waking from the surgery, the pain was immediately gone and remains gone at my six weeks check-up. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Thank you, Dr. Nesterenko.
Just six weeks ago, I had two back procedures performed by Dr. Nesterenko. I am still healing from these procedures but I am amazed at the six weeks point the improved quality of life I have already achieved. Prior to having these two procedures my back pain prevented me in performing my activities of daily living and I was losing my independence. While I am still considered to be in an early phase of my recovery, I am very pleased with the outcomes I have already achieved. Dr. Nesterenkos knowledge, surgical skills, and my following post surgical procedures, have all provided contributing factors to my recovery and has developed a sound foundation for continued progress in the coming months in my healing. Many thanks to Dr. Nesterenko and his staff!

Great Physician
I have spent many years searching for a Dr. that would actually listen to me & Dr. Nesterenko heard what I said, referred me to get services that found out my problem. I'm so thankful that he didn't just look at my MRI & diagnose me right then. Thank you for actually listening to me. So important! Not everyone has the same problem. I believe in giving credit where credit is due.

My pain management physician referred to Dr. Nesterenko regarding a serious bulging lumbar disc. I was pleased how quickly his office scheduled an appointment.Dr. Nesterenko and I discussed the recent MRI images and report. He offered several options for treatments, including spinal surgery. I decided that surgery would best eliminate my chronic pain. In view that Dr. Nesterenko is extremely thorough, he ordered additional tests to better guide his preparations for surgery.I appreciate that Dr. Nesterenko leans to hiring diverse employees. He is very caring about his patients. The staff are well qualified and friendly.I highly recommend Dr. Nesterenko.

Outstanding Back Surgery
I have been a patient of Dr. Nesterenko and I love him and his staff. I had a back surgery in June. I couldn’t be more happy. I am pain free. He is amazing. The only hard part is the restrictions of the recovery but it is definitely worth it. Dr. Nesterenko and his staff go over and beyond to make you feel valued. Everything is explained in detail with patience and compassion. I highly recommend him.

Fifteen Plus Years of Back is Now Gone
Prior surgical consults said no surgery based on X-rays and MRI and said to continue pain management treatment. Dr. Nestrenko could see I was terrible pain; however, he took it a step further. He ordered a few more tests to narrow down root cause. Tests confirmed L5 and S1 disc was source of my pain. He talked about surgical procedures available and possible risks of associated with back surgery. I was always fearful about back surgery and if things want wrong I might be paralyzed or something. He explained in the procedure in detail and that all types of surgery carry some risk, and possible positive, negative, or no change outcomes from this type of surgery. I had the surgery November 2023, and everything went very well with no back pain or legs and feet falling asleep. He was recommended by a close friend and glad I went to see him for help. I highly recommend Dr. Nestrenko if you need a doctor who is a true professional and will take the right approach to resolve your back pain.

Complete JOKE
This doctor and his staff were not honest with me about failure of surgical hardware. Never once told me that screws or rods could need to be replaced or that they could ever cause issue. I am needing another surgery where we are replacing screws he placed in my bone. His office has no idea what they are. No clue on size, type or anything. So NOT

After 3 months of jumping through hoops (physical therapy, pain manage ment, MRIs etc) for Dr Nesterenko's PA, I finally met Nesterenko. He informed me that I would have to go to Dallas if I agreed to surgery. Surely he knew that by the MRI, but still wasted 3 months of my time. I'm looking for a Lubbock Neurologist for a second opinion.
