Dr. Sasikala Hemkumar, MD

I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience at this clinic during my first and only visit with Dr. Hemkumar in February. From start to finish, the staff and doctor displayed an alarming lack of professionalism, compassion, and courtesy. The front desk staff spoke to me as if I was a burden for simply asking questions. When we met with Dr. Hemkumar, she was significantly behind schedule. I understand that doctors can be busy, but there was no apology or acknowledgement of the delay. During the visit, my husband and I felt judged for not knowing how fertility evaluations typically work. Instead of helping guide us, Dr. Hemkumar seemed impatient and dismissive. She rushed through the appointment, discouraged basic labs at her clinic, and told us to just go see a fertility specialist. This felt more like a brush-off than true care. One of the most concerning parts of our visit was how the doctor interacted with us as a couple. I am Mexican and my husband is Pakistani. While we can’t definitively speak to Dr. Hemkumar’s personal views, we both strongly felt that our dynamic as an interracial couple may have influenced the way she treated us. She barely acknowledged me during the appointment, even though I was the patient, and directed most of the conversation toward my husband. My husband even noticed a shift in her tone—what felt like subtle judgment or disapproval. We left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected on a personal level, not just as patients. To make matters worse, the billing and insurance situation has been a complete disaster. I called ahead and confirmed that the clinic accepted my insurance. During my visit, Dr. Hemkumar herself confirmed it was in-network. Based on that, we paid $100 out of pocket with the understanding that it would be reimbursed once my insurance was verified. Now, even after my insurance coverage has been approved, the front desk is denying that they accept it and is refusing to bill it. The staff even confused my insurance with another insurance, which is a completely different program. There is still no clear answer about whether they will properly bill my insurance or not. Dr. Hemkumar even called my husband directly—despite multiple requests to use my contact information—and told him we were being “incredibly complicated,” offered to write a refund check for the visit, and told us never to come back. I’m stunned that a doctor would speak to a patient and their family this way. It was not only unprofessional but extremely hurtful during such a sensitive time in our lives. I do not recommend this clinic to anyone seeking compassionate care or clarity with billing and insurance. Patients deserve respect, transparency, and basic decency—especially during fertility struggles. This experience was the exact opposite.

While Dr. Hemkumar is efficient and knowledgeable, I had a negative experience having her as my doctor. She checked me for HSV-2 and diagnosed me positive, and she did so with very little empathy. It was an emotional experience for me and it's proven that diagnosis for the virus can have psychologically damaging effects on patients. Her demeanor towards me was cold and judgmental.

My very first visit started with her talking so loudly it felt like shouting. She refused to do an exam on me until an issue cleared up. The interaction was so bad I didn't go back for a year. Once I went to a better doctor she examined me and found that the issue was easily remedied. That means that I was walking around thinking I had a more serious issue because of her refusal to do her job. Honestly don't understand how she has so many good reviews. She was very unprofessional and if I could give zero stars I would. I write this review to hopefully spare someone else from getting subpar care.

Dr. Hemkumar is one of the most caring doctors. She listens and is very thoughtful. He team is just as amazing as she is

She treated me my whole pregnancy and was before and after help me push my baby and so much more great things to say about her deserves more than 5 stars

Dr. Hemkumar delivered all 3 of my babies in 2012 , 2014 , and 2016 she is the best and I would never want another doctor she does such a great job

Dr.Hemkumar was everything I could want in a provider. She was kind, asked for consent and knowledgeable. I traveled from buda to see her and will book her for all my future appointments. She was amazing.

You can thoroughly trust the doctor. She’s genius and excellent in what she does. We had our baby delivered recently and both mom and the baby are doing well.

Dr hemkumar has delivered both of my boys and will be the one to deliver any future children. She's super nice and informative. Always made me feel super comfortable and answered any and all questions. I will recommend her to any and everyone I know

Dr. Hemkumar has been my OBGYN for years now and I could not be happier with every visit that I make to her office. The staff is amazing and Dr. Hemkumar always makes sure that I feel comfortable while in her care. I drive all the way to Austin from Dallas to see her because I refuse to see anyone else! She's the best!

She is a great doctor and would recommend her to everyone. She takes the time to listen to you and I have never felt rushed. She makes me feel like family.
